Since these MK kits are rather rare the price could go rather high I suppose.
I bought an MK Curare 20 in 2009 for $216 and I agree it was expensive but it is probably up there one can get if it sold it on ebay and such places with internatiional shipping accepted to get a broad bidding base. /Bo |

I paid about $400 for mine over 5 years ago. It came with the 25 VF, but those were all over Ebay back then. I remember hesitating, thinking I could get a 60 size MK kit for the amount I bid (back then, before the crazy prices hit), but also thought, when will I ever see another SM 20? I haven't seen or heard of another that sold yet. I would say if one were to go for sale, it would go well beyond $300.
I started mine and stopped when I wasn't sure how I wanted to set up the wing servos. Now its all packed up waiting until we (me and the other planes) move to the mainland. Here are some pics of the build. I did copy all the parts while I was building. I also had the plans scanned but I lost the files due to lack of external backups when my hard drive retired. DM |

Based on my experience on open market MK kits for sale (and some corresponding purchases), the prices are as follows:
20 size kits: $200-400 40 size kits: $300-450 60/120 size kits: $350-700 The older classic BPA designs fetching higher prices than the later long stroke/four stroke era designs. Yoshioka kits go for roughly 20-30% lower prices than the MK kits. David |

But the availablity does factor in this. The kits that you just cant find will sell for... who knows? Especially if 70s flyer is looking for one.
My pride and joy collctable kit is my MK Thunderbird II. I wouldn't take $1000 for it, not because its that good, but because I really dont think there is another one left. DM |

Interesting discussion. I have an old FK Career 60 (Curare clone), fiberglass and foam construction, that I think I bought from Mutchlers Hobbies back in '84?...Rossi ,61 w/pipe. Rom-air retracts. Two flights on her since I built it in '86. Turn-around pattern hit and I put it up. If it isn't worth much, I will start flying it in SPA or CPA.
