Sunday I had a bit of trouble attempting to launch the plane. I tried the hand launch via the leading edge toss. however, it was my first attempt launching a plane with out a fuse and no luck. It cartwheeled and broke the motor mount off. I will get it glued and I will try again next time with a home built catapult system. I will go over the design and build of it in 2 weeks I will be away for work for 2 weeks so the project is on hold.

Hiya Joe,
bad luck on the maiden launch... :-( I'm sure you'll have it up a flying again. I would consider that it's weight would make it a very fast flying plane and quite difficult to launch. A catapult should do wonders. With the wingloading you report, I would recommend hand launching...
Good luck with the next round of testing. I'll keep an eye on your progress here, as I am potentially interested in this airframe for a UAV also.
Cheers
Matt

@So_Bad
I would recommend the Canon Powershot S100, a small, lightweight camera with good performance.

I need a good Cam, lightweight, good lens, and that had firmware MOD to it. Because I could to set shooting interval, etc. I will read about this Canon S100.

Does anyone know whic camera Sensefly and Gatewing X100, are using? In these UAV camera and the GPS are connected? I do not understand how pictures are get cordinates if it's not connected.

Thanks!

I have an older model Canon Elf Power shot. It has a 10MP res.
I have been away on business and I will be getting the repairs completed this week some time and also completing the construction of my launcher. I have received my bungee cord and all I need to do is build the rail system. I will let you all know as soon as I get more work completed on it.

Wow this plane really looks amazing! I'm building a hexa right now, also using a 1w booster on my 2.4 for it. This really makes me want to get an airplane too haha. Best of luck to your catapult launch system!

Well, I just completed my Catapult system for flying wings. I will test it out next week end. I is 5 ft long. I hope it slings the plane into the air for me.
I am using 3 bungees attached to a shuttle. It then goes around pulleys and then down to the bottom of the launcher. Here are some pictures.

Nice job JOE. Your work with PVC pipes, inspired me to make a stand for supporting my plane when working on it in the workshop.

Thanks!

I moves but I have not tested it with a plane yet. I will be heading to the flying field this weekend if the weather gets better.

I will report back.

H everyone I am trying to use a canon hs300 on my x5 airplane but can not for the life of me get a non blurred picture

I turned off the stabilization in the camera
Cranked up the Iso
I can see the screen go blurry and actually gets jello while in ground tests

I have balanced the prop and removed the folder

I never had this issue with the Pentax optio 90 because it's a fixed lens

My question is "if these extending barrel cams are so sensitive why do these companies use them?"

Or is there something I am missing?
