that's exactly what I said. your first design was a rip-off from CW, now you're innovating. it's good to see, that's all I wanted to say.

Ok, as promised I will post pictures of this high gain Lindenblad, I will call it
Lindy5.8

It is a parasitic Lindenblad built in the easiest way possible, with a vertical dipole in which the connector and the outer shield work as the ground plane and the inner conductor works as the active element. This will avoid problems with matching, in fact the SWR is quite good at 1.4:1 on 5705.

The design is actually LHCP as you see in the picture since the "circulator" uses parasitic, not driven elements.

I have flown this antenna for 2 days and I can honestly say it outperforms the SPW for low angles, it gets easily 6-7dbic gain, if you fly level, and at 30 you get about 3dbi, that's my estimate based on flight path, altitude and distance from base compared to video degradation.

I think this antenna would have no problems blowing away the spw for LR records, but it needs a bit of modeling to understand well what the effects of the connector are, being so close to the circulator.
Of course some better looks would also help, but that is for later.

Hello Deborah,
this set is heading to the post office as I am typing this. It will get to the UK in 4-5 business days.

You are getting the old design with sharp corners and the new one which is wider-band... same performance though!

Whilst I appreciate these antennas (as I have a pair myself) I can't help but think that this thread would be more fitting in the Vendors forum.

Cheers
Brett

I don't feel like spending 500$ just to get into the vendor's forum. I think there are other threads just like this, including circular wireless , dragon link, mfd tracker...just to name a few, and people here just like in those forums can share their opinion about these products and it's a way for fpvlr to keep in touch and provide customer service. After every post it takes just a couple hours and the thread gets bounced back in the second, third or fourth page. So I don't see it as a problem. Vendors need a bit of visibility, and you get NO visibility in the vendor's forums.
It's best to have only 1 thread with everything regarding fpvlr.com, which is development, new products, customer support, customers' questions, than have 100 threads with a little bit of info in each one...because that's what customers would resort to, writing a new thread for each question etc.... A thread like this is a way to keep things neat.

2.4 set for Mr. Lewis, heading to UK... NICE SWR on these as usual.... 2370 central frequency.

I wish I had the time to fly them myself.

fantastic!
Thank you for reporting back.
You guys are great and your honesty is helping me keep the shipping price low, and shipping time fast!
I think r/c people tend to be very nice and honest to each other.
I hit my 300th package sent worldwide this week, since I started the website, no package lost so far!

Now I need to get my butt out of the laboratory and tackle the distance record on 5.8 . Not an easy task, but it's doable, I am at 14 km so far, but I have not tried the best combos yet, I am a procrastinator, I always fly less than optimal setups so I
know I have margin.

The 16 turn antenna really surprised me today... I ran a test with a dummy load on the foxtec tx, that means I DIDN'T have ANY antenna mounted on the transmitter, and this 16 turn on the receiver on the ground.

This is the unedited video, please skip the first 3 minutes of hanging in the grass.

5.8ghz test with Dummy Load and 16 turn helix (15 min 1 sec)

I will soon fly with some proper antennas on the tx to get the distance record on that frequency....

Today I could have done it, if I had decided to skip the antenna selection test and try a max distance run...
