Converting a F3D to electric

I'm thinking (dangerous I know) of converting a old F3D racer to electric. Now powered with a Nelson FIRE motor that is just a pain to run. Any opinions on set ups? I happen to have an Align 650L helo motor that may be a good start. 1220kV able to runn on 3 to 6S.

Have to run small diameter props, 7-8".

Calc says this on a 6S and a 8x8 is 105A, 2000W, 182mph.

Any ideas?

The Align motor could work. Kv is ok.
Have you tried fitting batteries in the fuse? That will probably limit what you can do, so it would help to know if you can fit 8 or 9s 3000 mah.

I haven't tried anything yet but I'm shooting for 6S. How many flights have you and Eric done since the mod? I like how you did the belly, I may do the nose and belly on this if it looks like it's a keeper or not.

We had an incident in Vegas 2010, so the plane will never fly again. It did fly once or twice before that though and went very well.
I have been tempted to fix the fuse and make a mold of it. I wouldn't normally copy something like this, but it got significantly modified so I wouldn't feel bad about it. It could use a bit more vertical fin/rudder too.

That would be cool to have a mold of that fuse. It was aerodynamically "cleaned up" quite a bit.
The planes fly great electrified but as Steve mentioned stuffing the goodies in there can be tough. We were doing 9s though so 6 shouldn't be too tough.
