Not quite "over the hump"

An interesting story about Clayton Kuhles and his searches for MIA airmen from WWII in the Himalayas.

Read this story today. All I can say is I wish him luck on a very very difficult task.

A guy would come every morning to the library and read the papers. He became a friend and we frequently visited. He was a navigator on the hump run. Had some extremely interesting stories. Once he talked about the altimeter reading well above the height of the surrounding mountains that were much higher than expected. Another time he talked about the plane actually backing out of a pass that had too much snow to see.....the wind speed was way above their stall speed and he swore they back up enough to the point they could turn around and go home.

Interesting old guy.

I've had my Slowstick go backwards flying into a headwind, so I could believe it.
