Man-O-Man..I think thats awsome, A 450 for under $50 bucks. And it looks to fly decent . So many of us spend $400 on one. Hope you keep this thread going, And keep it honest on when and what cheap parts or electronics fail first. Well done old4570. I have often heard of ppl building super cheap 450's. But Never see a vid of one or at times even hear from them again.

Well , Im on flight 9 so far ..

And the last one was hairy to say the least ..
That breeze became a wind when a front moved in , and at least 3 times I had a 5 foot lift [ wind came in and lifted the heli ] the last one being particularly bad .

I felt the wind hit my back , and as soon as I did I pulled back on the elev stick to counter the wind , Im so glad I was pre emptive as the heli lifted to about 7 feet and was at around a 45deg tail stand to keep it of the back wall of the house .

Any slower with the reflexes , and bye bye plastic 450 ..

I decided , to just land , go inside , put the battery on the charger and cook lunch , and save the heli for another day .

This is the first Leader $9 kit , two more on the way .. Each cheaper than the last
Last one being the Uber cheap one , which Ive ordered the Uber cheap parts for .

1st = $21.50 [ This one ]
2nd = $15.60
3rd = $11.50 or less [ This will be the sub $50 build ]

Im trying to pick up a kit even cheaper than $11.50 , but Im not sure I can do it . There just too fantastic a deal . [ Even if you just buy one for spares ]

Rotor Blades $3.67

$46.85 , under budget ($50) ... This is as cheap as I can build a 450 Heli [ less radio ] ... So far ....
What the what? That's cheaper than my Double Horse 9116! $5 for that motor. That's what I spent for the 9116! So if you got one of those cheap HK Tx's, this build would be less than $100? Amazing.

I picked up a 7 ch computer tx for $53 [ Mode 1 ] so it would work out , Computer Tx and heli for 15c under $100 ....

So depending on what Tx you go with , Ive seen Radio's go for $10 in the USA .
Never do that here , I think I can buy Hobby King 6ch for like under $40 shipped , which is a lot better than Ebay , No reason you cant get a 450 for less than $100 ,

Just check out the RTF deals on Ebay , they go for less than $100 all the time .
Im so tempted myself by these RTF deals , but another heli combo I dont really need , in fact I may need to lighten the load as is ..

Hi guys, ok well I took the plunge and found these kits on ebay, I bid and got two, just had them delivered and i must agree they do look of reasonable quality, so last night I won another one, and today i,m bidding on one more, both of these two are from ebay.de.
As the seller doesnt seem to be selling any on ebay.uk, not to worry though.
Anyway my main question is, I have downloaded a manual from Align for the 450se, and i,m wondering if this would be any help in the build of these kits?
Looking through it there are a lot of similar looking bits etc, and as this is the first 450 size heli for me I dont want to be making any cock ups even though I have four complete kits.
Also looking on ebay and searching for trex450 there seems to be loads of cloned and original parts for these helis, am I safe in assuming that any of these cloned/original 450 heli bits will fit these kits, ie are the 450 bits all of a generic size, or am I being naive????
Again I am on a mega strict tight budget and will be building it with in this tight budget, at the moment I have a 2.4ghz twister cp gold and was wondering if another generic 2.4ghz rx would bind to the twisters tx, which has a 6 model memory on it, or could i just keep swappping the rx from the twister to the clone to save abit more money.
Many thanks for any replies to help me with my build and subsequent flights.

Clone bits should fit !

I have a metal head on one of these kits . [ No issue ]
I also have a metal upgrade tail waiting for one of the plastic ones to Die !

My only problem with the Plastic Fantastic , is the swash plate ..
Watch out for the links , I found they may hit the swash plate servo connection points , and may need trimming , I moded my head for clearance here , and I just did my 11th battery .

Thread lock the head , set it up , and hopefully all will be fine ..

Next kit , I plan to do a build review ..

15th battery has come and gone , at 8 to 10 minutes per

Lets go with 8 x 15 = 120 Minutes ...

Or two hours .. Kit cost + shipping [ This one ] $21.50

Thats $10.75 per hour ..

If I went for a country drive , fuel used , lets call it 9ltrs per 100 ,

$1.40 per ltr , x 9 = $12.60 per hour in fuel ..

But thats not fair , it should be the heli cost ..

21.5 kit
Motor ? [ used from other kit ] lets call it $10
15 Gyro
10 ESC
3.6 Blades

Hmmm $60 , So the heli cost 4 and 3/4 hours of driving ...

And I have much cheaper gear on the way , that sub $50 build

Just picked up a kit for $10 , yeah one of my low bids paid of .. A 450 kit with free ship for $10 USD

Damn Not sure what I can do with all these kits ..

cheers guys will happily start to look for clone bits and bobs etc, i will watch you build thread with interest now aswell, Ive now got 4 of these 450 kits and have now had a word with myself to stop buying them now haha.
anyway looking at all the spares that should fit its a damn sight cheaper than my twister cp gold to keep in the air, so fingers crossed ill have one built within the next week and possibly in the air aswell if all goes well.

450Kit $11.45
4000KV Motor $7.63

Gyro $10.18
Servos $8 (4)
Rotor Blades $3.67
$51.15 to expensive , gone over budget $1.15
Looks like one could do it for less than $100 with Tx ... (not buying another Tx)

Time to block Ebay .
Ok guys I took the plunge like you, and got one of them cheap clone kits doing the rounds on ebay, then another then another then another, yep I got 4 of the buggers, well they were sop cheap and the finish on each one is great.
Anyway my first kit
kit- 9.52
motor and ESC 11.95
4x9g servos 7.19
gyro 8.18

Ive got a Twister cp gold 2.4ghz tx and rx that has a 6 model memory so im using that as my radio kit.
Now would anyone be abnle to inform me on wethet or not this radio kit will work, ive heard of cccpm etc etc and 90degree and 120degree swash etc, none of which makes sense to me yet.......
Its my first 450 size heli, I started on a couple of fixed pitch Ikarus Piccolo's then moved onto the Twister CP Gold after having a go on my mates Mini Pred 3D, then I got myself a Walkera #52 as a challenge, and it was its now for sale on ebay, couldnt quite get to grips with somethig so small, oh and ive got a mini Twister sport fixed pitch for some fun flying indoors, so you see i,m not a total noob to this hobby just totally self taught so there are some gaps in my knowledge hence the question ref the radio gear. cheers all.

Im not sure about that specific raido itself, but if it handles CCPM, it should be OK. CCPM is cyclic/collective pitch mixing. Basically, it means that the radio handles the mixing required to tilt the swash plate in the correct direction. The 450 uses the most popular type, 120 degree swash. That means there are three servos attached to the swash at 120 degree intervals. For forward flight, the back servo lifts the swash, and the two side servos move down slightly. To bank left, the left servo moves down, right servo comes up, and back stays put. Since a single stick movement on the Tx will affect more than one servo, it needs to do computer mixing.
