Mini, plans will just be a conversion off the bird posted here, still trying to work out the back end details( twin exhaust)

Sorry about the tardy reply...unseasonably warm, calm week here and lots of flying...including four outdoor flights for my micro F-35C!
Went pretty well but the little 27mm edf unit has to work pretty hard to keep the model from losing altitude...throttle >2/3 or the model starts to lose altitude. Kept it right side up as I wasn't sure about recovery with marginal power and not too much altitude. Outdoor only as I think it's too fast for the indoor site (triple gymnasium filled with other flyers) Sorry, no pics in the air as I flew by myself and haven't mastered helmet camming something this small. Have bought a Hyperflow 30mm fan and Ammo motor for the next one to see if that addresses the thrust concern.

Nice job Bill looks good. You will like the GP 30mm fan. Did you do the thrust vectoring cone? If you did, you will be able to fly a lot slower. Once you get used to lifting the nose 15 degrees and flying off the left stick. Glad to see success.

Yes. the thrust cone is driven by a servo and a pull-pull thread arrangement. Cut out and mounted the canopy trim...looks better!

That's a very nice job you've done on it- you'll enjoy the C model a lot. I had some fun over Thanksgiving dogfighting with around a dozen crows at once

I'm starting to build one of these and have a couple of questions... What do you guys use to connect the servo to the thrust cone? The same music wire used for the elevons? And how/where is it connected to the cone itself?

I think it is a pull-pull system with string from this picture. I'd also be interested in the answer to the third question.

Pull pull thrust cone...carbon pushrods

My micro F-35C has six flights without a scratch and uses cotton (I think) thread to connect the thrust cone to the servo. The thread is tied and CAed to a plastic ring (cut from the top of a pill bottle with my scroll saw) CAed to the paper cone. The plastic ring was drilled with #60 drill in four spots...two for the thread anchor points and two for the pivot points. Straight pins were cut to length as pivot pins and were CAed into the shroud of the EDF reinforced with small pieces of 1/32 balsa. You can see the plastic ring and the head of the top pin in the accompanying photo.
I may try to make the thrust cone out of something other than paper on the next model as the paper doesn't hold its shape well if it gets damp landing in damp grass.
I used 0.8mm carbon rod for the taileron/elevon pushrods and connected the pushrods to the control horns (1/64 or 1/32 ply...I can't remember) with shrink wrap.

Sorry i did not check this over the weekend. I make the yaw cone out of a 1\64 ply ring and the paper cone in the drawings. I use fishing line and pull pull.I paint the paper cone with lacquer paint and then it is water prof. The paper cone, ply ring, fishing line and paint weigh about .05 grams. mkcp I will post markings for the air force and navy this weak. hope this helps Sean
