RC Shutter Release for Canon PowerShot SX260 HS ?

Hi Guys,

Anyone know of a shutter release for the PowerShot SX260? Been looking but can't find anything online.

Thanks for your help,

Jimmy

I normally would refer a request like this over to Gentles but I don't see your camera listed. Still, I would find it hard to believe that not one of their remote shutters isn't compatible. Might be worth an email or call...

In the US, Brooxes specializes in KAP equipment, makes some really good rigs, and sells some of Gentles equipment here.

What project are you mounting a remote still camera into?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the information on the shutters. Looking to put one in a Foamaroo right away as well as an Osprey. Will also be putting one in an O2 later this summer once the mold is complete.

So Brooks says that he has no knowledge of this particular camera but then he told me that you just asked the same question of him.

I checked the CHDK site and while it's not under development officially there, there is a thread where they're beginning to pick it apart. No word on how long it will be before they come out with something official though.

Brooks did mention using a servo arm to actuate the shutter. I don't really see this as viable if you're shooting through the dome, but I guess you could whip up a quick mount if you're shooting straight down. Tough making space with the round fuselage.

I'm guessing the ultimate solution is going to be a USB interface that plugs into a servo port on your Rx.

Did you send an email over to Gentles? On the USB triggers they've developed up to the SX220 HS and the SX230 HS. I'm hopeful that the same trigger will work for your model too. I wouldn't think that Canon would mess around too much with the interface or the protocols within the same camera line but only the experts will know that.
