Help convert GPS coordinates

Hi,

my Eagle Tree OSD outputs DDD MM SS.SS format but my hand held GPS requires ddd.dddddd North and West

I tried many online converters but none that I could find made any sense.

If you could help explain how to convert the coordinates below I would be much obliged.

Thanks.

Outta Sight
Decimal degrees = whole number of degrees, plus minutes divided by 60, plus seconds divided by 3600

eg, 55 deg 32 min 24 secs =

55
+ 32/60 = 0.5333
+ 24/3600= 0.0067

Total = 55.5400 degrees

Hope that helps.
