I arrive 24hours after Josh and his dad 5am on the 7th. Speedo has now been balanced and only needs the radio setup before I pack the box.

Well I think Asto has hired a 4WD, i will have my Car. It would pay to communicate with the other guys to save costs on too many cars.

When Andrew came over, he was pretty keen to get a car to travel around in, but didn't get one on my advice, and he always had a ride to where he wanted to go.

If there is 6 guys staying at the house, you would only need two cars between you guys, the guys from the North Island are bringing vehicles too. So plenty of rides around.

Just trying to avoid a mass of vehicles that aren't needed.

But if you do want a car, check Apex rentals. They have 4wd wagons which would be mint! They have a big range of vehicles

Hey Alex, my dad booked a car, Im pretty sure through those guys. We got a legacy safari, Which I think is like an outback in Australia. This is good cause I was looking at eventually getting one, so it will be like a long test drive!

What are people using for handles on boxes.

I was thinking a rope handle would do the job but worried it may catch on something.

Jono and I have tie down strap material riveted around our boxes in the middle, so we could lift them as handles each end were too far apart to reach on your own.

Well all planes are now ready to go and I am starting to pack the box.
I have weighed each plane and think the total should be around 25kg leaving me 7kg for any miscalculation and packing.

It was only last week that my wife had gallstones and the trip was questionable, but this is starting to only now feel real and I am getting excited

Nice Mick, foamies are hard to pack hey! What are people using to close their boxes? Ive been told that customs needs to be able to open the box, so a lock is no good I take it.

Foam is the reason my box is 600mm wide.

I have use the part of a hook and staple latch to close my box and have 3 travel approved locks accross the front

What is a travel aproved lock?, do customs have a universal key or something? I was thinking of just using some tie down staps or something but being able to lock it would be much better for peice of mind

I used 7 nylon bolts. Customs could not be bothered undoing them all so they did not even look
