We still fly front side at Titahi Bay. Itís a great slope with a huge lift and a big area of flat grass for landing. Perfect for test flights. I have never flown at the Wainuiomata light house but have been considering heading over there to look for DS ridges.

We DS at Pukerua Bay in a northerly (but it is a bit violent and if you dive low you crash every time), Karori Skyline walkway in a north west, the south coast in a southerly and Palmerston North wind farm in a south east. I have not been DSíing for long so still trying to find good ridges

Not sure if there is still access to the lighthouse. In those days long past we had already problems. From memory we had a key given to us, for a gate which was locked. And it was a long way from there still to the lighthouse.

Looks good! Actually works quite well like that. Juat needs some suitcase wheels at the big end to make carting it through airports easier

Looks good Josh. I love the shape.
When you're packing it be aware that it is as likely to go through baggage services upside down as right way up.

Thanks fellas, it was the best compromise I could make with fitting a 2m wing into a 1,9m box.
Good point nick, I'll have to make sure everything is well padded and strapped in. I thought about some wheels too, I'll fit something on there.

Yes, pack for worst case. Things like being placed over a single point, like a bar, halway across at any angle. Things being placed on top. Impacts. Being dropped etc.

If you cover all those, you WILL get your models over here in one piece

But if anything gets broken on the way over, or even while you are here, my workshop is there for anyone that needs repairs done

With no kids running around or home duties I could probably get more done in a week than in a months. I should probably take a project to complete but given i have never ds'ed I will end up with a repair or two

Seeing as there is only 2 of us from the north island now, any ideas on where to bunk down, was looking at camping but for 2 its not worth it.

Any input would be welcome.

Three of you. Mr Wurts is coming down too. But I think he will be staying with one of the other sailplane guys here.

Asto MAY have room.

Otherwise I will find you someone to shack up with, don't worry about it for now. I'll ask around and find someone. As a back-up, my father has offered a couple of beds his place. Only reason I don't say take that offer up first is that it is the other side of town!

I am coming down and I think Glenn is too. Might have to pull finger and get a few planes finished. I know flying is cheap and easy but I am thinking about doing the drive down in a rental. I might be able to take a few of the NI guys planes in that case.
