Reversing shaft on ERC .40 size motor

Just purchased my first Hobby Lobby ERC .40 size motor. It is setup to mount behind the firewall. Shaft and X brace on same end of motor. If I want to mount the motor in front of the firewall the shaft needs to reverse. The only problem is there is no groove in the shaft for the E clip to go back into. As I see it, with no E clip the motor is going to pull apart from the thrust. Any thoughts?

Also cut a flat for the grub screw that holds the shaft in the magnet housing if there is not one.

A lot of the newer motor are supplied with collar that slides up against the e-clip and is also locked with a grub screw. That is insurance again losing the E-clip. You can make a collar from a DuBro axle wheel collar if you get one that is undersized and drill it out to fit the shaft.
