Cool

Demo reel from Heli-Shot with HFP

Hi guys, just wanted to share our demo reel from Heli-Shot productions.
We have put this together over the last 4 months working with redbull, D1NZ (NZ drifting) and a mobile company.
We use the Skyjib 8 using the Hoverfly Pro board which is awesome to fly with.
Had some teething problems mainly to do with esc's but all good now.
Most of the vid is raw except for some of the skatepark vid which has been through IS, we didn't have any gimble stabiliser then (very first vid we did).

Cheers

Excellent video, and I love the sound track.

The motorcycle dock race really got my attention. I've never seen a course quite like that before!

Very nice.

I hesitate to criticize this at all, the flying is awesome, [I only wish I could do that] but there are three shots at about 34 seconds where you fly up and over a house with a great view of the bay, then the following two shots where it looks like you used Smoothcam in FCP and it does some weird perspective shifts that are especially noticeable right after such a steady slow motion shot.

I guess it depends on who your showing this reel too, the content and the aerial perspective are certainly exciting to look at so it may not matter.

Great work.

Thanks for the feedback thats why I posted here, I want honest feedback. You are right we used IS (smoothcam) for those shots but we also disclose that to anyone interested. Those were our first shots we did back in early feb. No gimble stabilisation then but do now.

The motorbikes on the dock were during a redbull event here in Auckland (City Scramble). We could only safely shot from that dock which only gave me a small area to land and takeoff from in strong wind. Exciting stuff though.

Not so much a criticism as making the point that the rest of the reel is so well done that if people notice something about those shots and you have to disclose that its the stabilization you might be better off removing those shots.

Have you tried the warp stabilizer in After Effects CS5.5?

That last clip with the two people taking picture of it had me rollin, the perfect stereotype Just curious what sort of flight time are you looking at?

I've got a Skyjib 6 with AXI 4120s and 15" props flying an AV200 3-axis with retracts that I'm trying to gauge battery choices with. I'm learning toward 6S 6000 or 6S 8000 lipos. Suggestions?

Thank you for your comments. Taken it all on board.
Talking about removing those shots and putting something else in there.
That clip with them taking a picture was just by chance, while doing a job these two tourists were just walking by.
We use 6s 5500 batts (about 7pairs) get about 5.30min safe and have about 16% left after 6 mins. They are good for what we do, its a balancing act between flight times and charge times. You will get more time with 8000 batts but will prob take about an extra 20 min to charge a pair. Prob good to have some if needed on a job.
Also weight can be an issue traveling etc.
Yeah Stacky (Mike) that was me. Thanks for your help.

I meant the 7sets are what well use during a day. 5.30min each pair.
We use Xoar 14.7 props.
Thanks
