Some Laid-Back Flying in Massachusetts this past Sunday!

Enjoy some snapshots I took yesterday, it was a good day, doing what we all love!

Here's a slide show, and use the numerous viewing options there as desired:

Or, catch the whole set at a glance and click to enlarge images at various sizes:

And please let me know if those links are not functioning as they should -- frustratingly, some of the popular user-friendly websites such Flickr can be user-unfriendly with direct links on forums such as this one. I've tested it here and already it's acting up. Let me know please if problems persist.

Links are functional and the weather looked sensational. Good stuff.

The weather may have LOOKED sensational, but the wind doesn't show up in the pictures. I was only willing to fly a catapult glider, and I lost it, though I think I have the location down to 100 feet or so.

Nice pics, John. I'll have to check to see if any of mine came out ok.

And the free-range DOGS! To their owners' delight, they frolic off-leash in the sunlit green uplands. To a stick and tissue model airplane, they terrorize!

Poor Clive, for example: If I have the story straight, his gorgeous Grumman Hellcat in Fleet Air Arm colors (colours!) was set upon by no less than three mouthy "Hounds of the Baskerville". I only saw the aftermath; the plane looked brand-spanking new, but torn to bloody pieces.

Here are some pictures I took at the same contest with my phone camera. I probably wasn't trying hard enough, and it was only a phone, but at least one of them came out ok. Enjoy

Looks like fun. Where did the event take place? Was it sponsored by a local club?

Hi Brian,
This was in Amesbury on the North Shore.* The club is the Airistocrats. In the winter, we have meetings in Methuen. Next contest is in the fall sometime, info here:

blast from the past

Hi John,

Glad to see that there are still builders out there and free-flighters are the best of the best. Seems that humble Palisades Hobby Shop really "paid it forward" affecting many people's lives. I ran across your great little Val in an earlier post and then wandered here. Hope all is well with you. Shoot me a note sometime.

Best, rick

Dr. Komet, recently at a sake-laden sushi bar I met an elderly gent from Hokkaido who flew those uber-secret Eurofighter missions against Curtiss LeMay's ghastly B-29's, and he says the color scheme on your model is dead-on accurate.

Well done! ;-)

Rick, if memory serves, the last time we flew together was a late afternoon flight test of your big F-102 sloper along the beach near Hyperion's Mighty Towers: Another DELTA planform!
