Phoenix Models Edge 540 91-1.20 size

Hey all, I wanted to get every possible opinion I could out of this setup for the plane I'm getting. First off, I'm in college and close to a local field and miss flying. I got a few questions regarding the setup too. The bug for 3D is back in me

The plane requires a 90-1.20 two stroke. How would a saito 125 do on it?
I bought 5 Futaba S3305 servos. They do not mention on the website about running on a lipo battery, but would they work fine with a 7.4v lipo?
Does anyone currently fly this airplane? What are your ups and downs about it?

The reason i want to run the lipo battery is because it will indeffinitely raise the power of the servos. I bought the servos originally for a dynaflite decathlon, but changed my mind and did not feel like buying new servos again. The decathlon can sit on the shelf for a bit longer. I looked at the Thunder tiger 130 4c for it, but a friend mentioned the saito 125, which is about 4.5 oz lighter and also the receiver battery is 2.2 ounces lighter than a 6v nimh pack. Lighter flies better I always say!

If you want a 3D machine then I would not get the phoenix edge. It is just way to heavy for good 3D flight.
I am sorry but those servos will not take 7.4 volts.
A really good airframe would be from 3DHS although there are others out there.
Just stay away from the lumber wangons, They'll snap on you.

Gravity is just a theory.

I'm flying this plane with a GMS 1.20, and it's a hoot. It's not the lightest, but it's no tank either. Mine came with heavy aluminum landing gear, but evidently they are now equipped with CF gear. With my heavy 1.20 it's got unlimited vertical with an APC 16x7 prop. Lots of space under the cowl means easy installation of whatever engine you choose. Some pilots are flying it with a DLE 20. The surfaces are huge, and with a good pilot at the sticks it will 3D. If you're on a budget, it's worth a try.

Would you say the dle 20cc would be stronger?

With the DLE you'll need to upgrade those hinges.

I think it would be, but you need to realize this is more than about power. Weight is a HUGE deal when it comes to 3D or even a good sport flyer for that matter.

I agree with Kermit50 on this plane's 3D abilities. It's at least a pound overweight, maybe 2. That's 10 -20% - a bunch!

Kept to minimum weight with carefully chosen options (and NO BALLAST), and they do make a great sport plane!

Wow, this was over 4 years ago! I've used the Saito 125 with this plane anyways. It has many flights. Will hover at 3/4 throttle. Aerobatic capability is somewhat lacking, but enough to have a fun day at the field for mild 3D.

My favorite plane in the fleet for reliability!!!!
