The dirt bikes come in handy. This was a day that was too wet to drive up the hill.

Has anyone Dsed an RCRCM sunbird with any success? I reckon they are a bit flimsy, but would be interested if anyone has tried one.

The carbon Sunbird is a capable DSer. Can't speak to the glass version.

I saw the glass version (hobbyking) recently and it seemed nice and stout. I reckon it would ds well,

Marcus had a Sunbird at Weldon last year, not sure on lay-up. Flew nice

I think a nicely set-up one should top out at 160-180 to be safe

Even with the skinny joiner? I would have thought less. Maybe we need to see some more destructive testing at wainui

making my own planes...

I think a glass sunbird won't survive too long on the backside, RCRCM is well known by their "economic" (and not primer) materials used for building, on a electric thread there is lot's of Typhoons loosing their nose inflight, another guy sad he doubt RCRCM use epoxy resin, we could imagine that..
I DSed a carbon Typhoon around 120mph and seemed flight very close to it's limit, the wing had a scary bend sometimes, another bad is for a 2m dser this plane is too light, when crossing the shear you receiver a big punch...
Place your bets!

Thanks for the comments. The reason i ask is my poor old Fredy had a disagreement with the ground from 100ft and i spent 20mins digging it out.

So what is a good replacement? I dont want another fredy, just want a cheap slope hack with crow, that i can enjoy on the front, but take DSing when i see fit.

Any more ideas? Already have a foamie gulp GV60 i converted to t-tail. I was considering an m60, but for the price including import taxes from USA to UK, id rather spent another few quid and get a 60inch mouldie. Any better suggestions?

Genesis/Flying fish.
Hn1038 foil, no rudder, cross tail, flaps, easy transport (2 piece wing), Good quality, easy build, cheap.
I got mid 150's with mine and there is more in it for sure.

I reckon a destiny is your best bet if you want to do some ds (I think they are related to the freddy anyway). They have a fat airfoil for a mouldy, and I think this helps them handle ds turbulance better than the skinny winged mouldies. They are also one piece and come stock with a carbon spar. I wish I had another one!

Looks like that destiny doesn't have flaps. Can anyone confirm?
Apart front that I like it, doesn't have the keel arrangement of the Fredy which was a weak point.
Would prefer a 1 piece wing.
