Building my first quad, some questions.

Hi guys,
So im building my first quadcopter today, ive got it all done but i am REALLY confused on how to wire this thing. I am using the blueskyrc quad frame, and the KK v5.5 board.Ive connected the throttle, rudder and aileron connectors from the KK board to the spektrum receiver, connected the 3 pin ESC connectors to the KK board.

So now i'm left with 2 wires from each ESC and nowhere to plug the power in. My assumption is a solder the positive and negative from each ESC together, then to a battery connector? Is this correct? I figured i should ask before i try it and blow something up.

Thanks in advance. I really want to get this thing flying today!

EDIT: My second question, is how do i properly flash the KK board for the quadcopter firmware? And which is the best firmware to use? ( i know there are lots)

Hi ICrap.

Here is an example of a power distribution board. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ion_Board.html
Here is the best way to flash your board http://lazyzero.de/en/modellbau/kkmulticopterflashtool

So i looked at the power distribution board, it just looks like it would be the same as soldering the leads together then connecting them to the battery. Is that correct? So i would be fine then doing that?

Thanks

i also think most only use one 5v wire from 1 ESC.

basically remove the red wire from 3 of the ESCs, only keeping black and signal (white).. maybe someone can correct me if im wrong.

I haven't heard that before..... is this true? can anyone confirm?

Also, now that i have the program to flash the KK, what firmware should i use on it?

Can you post a picture of your ESC?
I'm not sure where the two extra wires are coming from.
Basically, your 4 ESCs should plug into the M1, M2, M3, M4 headers on the KK board. The black wires should be toward the edge of the board.
Then you have your Throttle, Elevator, Aileron and Rudder headers that should go to your receiver. After that its a matter of hooking up your motors and you're good to go.

Here's a video that I used to make my power harness, and It's worked really well for me.

-TIP 8: It is recommended as a best practice for multicopters not to run ESC 5v BECs power wires in parallel. They will run hotter, be less efficient and can potentially induce noise into multicopter flight controller boards causing performance issues. This applies to both switching and linear type ESC BECs. Best multicopter practice: Only connect one 5v ESC power wire. Remove the other ESC 5v wires from the plastic connector by lifting the tab and then shrink wrapping the wire for protection. Do keep and connect the other ESC ground servo connections as removing them can cause performance issues with some ESCs and flight controllers.

NOT necessary if the ESCs have a linear BEC. You need to use only one 5V wire if the BEC is switching type.

you probably need to adjust your TX trims

No matter what i do, i can't arm it.. ive messed with the trim and i just cant get it to do anything.
The motors are twiching slightly and the ESCs are beeping, i assume this means its ready but not armed (the blue light isnt on either)
