Do I need to/can I set the timing and LVC on SimonK's firmware

So I just got done installing my new DYS flashed firmware ESCs in my Y-6 and I hooked up my programming card to set timing to low and NICXX mode for LVC and it would not light up the programming card.

that is when it hit me....... does SimonK's firmware already have LVC turned off?

thanks guys

simonK is used as is. no programming. no LVC no calibration. LOL very simple.

Nope, no program settings all preset. You do want to do the throttle range calibration on those DYS. Done the same way as before.

thanks guys.

did throttle range.... and well.... that was it

man it is amazing how much quiter my Y-6 was with the new flashed ESCs!!!!!!

it is like 1/2 the noise and 0 high pitch whine. I would recommend the flashed ESCs just for the noise abatement.

I cannot tell much if it flies better or not, i was doing some forward flight about 20mins ago in gusty wind and it seems to do okay, not like 1000x better than before, but it definitely is not worse....

why is it that the noise is literally 1/2 what it is with normal ESCs?

8kHz vs ~16kHz PWM switching frequency. Openpilot ESC is even better, I think theirs is 40kHz, and CastleCreations firmware can switch between 8/16/24

Open Pilot ESCs!!!!
this is the first i have heard of such and thing.....

so in general the higher the switching frequency the more quite they are? Is there any downside to the higher frequency?

I would love to try out some CC but they are so damn expensive!!!

TC thanks for the info

Its the whine that you hear of 8khz switching.
Sounds something like attached .wav
\16khz and above is less audible to human ears, so you don't hear it.
40k is above anyone's hearing capability.
There are other noise factors of course including commutation switching, wind/motor/etc noise, but at least the major source of problem is gone.

interesting. Thanks. I basically rebuilt my Y-6 tonight due to your recommendation to use reflashed ESCs or CC ones..... and the CC ESCs are like $99 a piece so reflashed it was.

Thanks, again.... i cant really tell a performance difference (yet) but the noise level change was worth the $$ and effort.
