summit owner, need some advice


so i have decided to go with the summit. its a multipurpose rc , and can be tuned and upgraded to just about any thing you want. fast , slow, high, low, etc. I would like some advice and pointers on dos and donts, gearing, batteries, and that kind of this on this truck. thanx for the help guys

Run it completely stock (other than maybe getting LiPo batteries) for the first couple of months. Get a feel for the truck, decide what you really like about it.

The thing that is great about the Summit is its versatility. It is good at a lot of things, great at very few.

I like the SPC Racing 8200 mAh 2s LiPos for this truck. Great power, fantastic long run times (2+ hours in low gear)

Do:
--Get the optional light bar for the roof.
--Get LiPos (And a LVA/LVC if you bought an older Summit w/o LVD)

Don't:
--Run locked diffs in high gear at high speed

i have a hard case lipo for my vmx but the wires come out of the top, i see there is a vent for the battery at both ends, if i take one of these off is there enough room for the wires to come out of there? i dont like the soft shell lipos. if not ill just run a high mAh Nmh battery

Yes, you can remove the rear battery vents and should have plenty of room.

haha yeah i dont ever sell mine and dont ever put the mamba motor in there and run 6s you will find every weak point in the truck

I haven't decided of I wa going to do a brushless upgrade or not when I get it, but I will just run stock for a while. I'm not getting it for speed, I want to be able to bash some and climb stuff lol, I seen a vid on YouTube, a guy changed the gearing and went form 27mph to 35mph and it still was decently low for crawling .

you definatly don't want to run a mamba monster on 6s. you will blow many parts till its bullet proof if it ever comes tothat point. but you can run a mamba monster on 4s and be fine just need to be careful is all with the drive lines. they seem to snap really easy.

yeah my erevo brushless is running 6s and i melted the bearings in the hub carrier moral of the story unless you have endless pocket books 6s is not good

6s in a erevo is fun but expensive. thats why i have a team associated rc8e 2.0 or bashing on 6s.

yeah 6s has crazy power and amazing speed and more power than you need but i have found every weak point in the truck i want to run 8s in the revo by going with a mamba xl however 6s fried the diff and the bearings so thats not happening anytime soon

Let's clarify a little bit...

The MMM and the 2200kv castle motor will handle 6s just fine.

The E-Revo driveline needs a little fine tuning and beefing up to handle the power properly.
