Take a look by all means, it might be good for a freak wind one day.
Shame, coz the whole ridge looks the goods.
David.
North West is a common wind here in Wellington. West North Westís are bit less common but we still get them. Thatís the perfect wind for my usual slope (front side).

Don't go by that particular one as Wellington Airport gets more N and S winds due to the wind wrapping around. Out in Cook Strait it is more NW.

I haven't looked at the site yet but I think it is the one I have been looking at for a LONG time. Is it almost right at the SWern corner right on the coast?

Awesome! Great minds think alike eh??

Yes would be great to get to that site.

I have been across Cook Strait often enough and experienced the super winds through there. Always thought I would love to have a throw away plane to try DS the Ferry...

Here is a good vid showing the wind in the area and how consistent it is.

First second or two looks over towards the proposed site

Hi guys any thoughts on flying at the Remarkables? I'm not a DSer (front-side only so far but would be keen to try) so not exactly sure what to look for, but I've spent a lot of time snowboarding here and it sure gets windy

Yep one of the first wind burners that lives in NZ now somewhere was DS'd at the remarks. You drive up about 3/4 and walk up about 20min the backside and blows straight from the lake. I flew mainly at Jacks Point just past the golf course. Wish I had anyone to go with as it wasnt too fun by myself. Also flew my carbon bird up behind skyline gondola towards ben lomond ridge. There are countless spots and plenty of wind. Wish I knew then, what I know now ! A D60 and a couple of keen blokes. I have a onboard video of my Sting at Jacks point somewhere. . One of the best times of my life livin in Qtown.
