Icharger 206b shows balance error....help?

Even when I connect blanche lead straight to the charger.....any ideas.
Would it be ok to fast charge until resolved? Always balance charge and cells
are all matched and always stored properly.
Thanks in advance

I'll bite, what is the error?

What are the cell voltages?
What size packs?
How old are they?

And, NO don't fast charge them unless you want to start a fire.

When I connect the balance lead to the paraboard......balance error on screen appears. Batteries are 3s and 4s.....all in perfect condition and balance.
This just started today....never a problem before with balance charging.

BTW....charger works fine.....just won't balance due to the balance error message.....maybe a charger issue......??

You have charged these packs before with no problem?

Or course you have the charger set to LiPo and 3S?

And you plug in the main leads and then the balance leads and that's when an error pops up?

Yes....used this charger for 4 months...problem free until today.
Batteries are not the issue.....just thought maybe I dumbed thumbed a setting.
Guess I will just charge w/o balance for flying tomorrow.....never done that but I guess it won't hurt this time...,all cells in all my batteries....Hyperion....match perfectly and stored that way
Any ideas would help.
Thanks

I had a similar issue on my 206b and turns out I had changed from lipo to life or some other type of battery under balance charge section. All I did was hit start and change it back to lipo and error went away.

Have you ever gotten a spark when plugging in a pack to the balancer board? If so and if you run out of ideas and don't have another balance board to try read this and inspect your balancer board.

Hi guys,

i have exactly the same problem with my brand new i charger 206B. ( 2 weeks old )
After charging the first LiPo pack ( 3S 1000mAh with 2C ) without problems
i liked to start the next charge of my second pack
( no balance board up till now, and the LiPo packs are brand new ).

I have connected the main plugs first, then the balancer plugs.
After that the message "Bal. Err." appeared.
Now i pressed the start button and read: "Balance Port Voltage Err".
By checking the voltage of each cell ( press Dec one time ) i found out,
that the voltage value of cell one is not listed: There are only 4 lines !
Cell two is displayed with 4.97 volts and cell three with 4.17 volts.

BTW: The same procedure now with my first LiPo pack.

Maybe the balancer port is damaged or a short circuit ?
Any ideas ?

Thanks for help,
greetz from germany,
Heiko

Has anyone found a solution to this issue?

Sure. I had the same in the first week. Don't plug your balance connector straight into the charger, use the balance board that may have been sent with the charger depending on where you purchased. And - don't plug your main lead charge cable, or leads from a parallel board, into the banana sockets when you have a battery connected to the charge cable, if you don't get that banana plugged in on target .... hit the casing or make a spark of some kind - it will blow out the traces for the balance plugs inside the charger.

Now I plug all that in, then connect to power source and then add batteries. Haven't had a problem since. I think my original problem was from touching the black banana to case with battery plugged in and balance from battery plugged in.

Send it back for repair.

This discussion was not continued. Can you change the traces? Or is the charger a goner?

You might be able to, but their would be a ton of soldering to do. On mine it was traces on the balance board .... this board has all of the 5 balance connectors solder to it, then it is soldered onto the main board. When I took it apart I could see the breaks but did not want to take it all down to fix, If I recall there is something blocking access to solder directly to that board.

Same problem here with a Charsoon 250, it only works as a 2S charger as it errors out on 3S and above batteries. Can't see anything "burnt" inside to I'm not sure how it could be fixed...sending it back for repair? Probably doesn't make sense since you can get a new one for $45 shipped...
