Turnigy Talon Quad Build Question

I'm building my first quad and I'm looking for some feedback. I am gonna run the turnigy talon frame, turnigy 2830 900kv motors, hk 20 amp esc's, hk v2.1 control board, and 9x4.5 props.

Looking through many threads and as much googling as I can handle about how other people have set up their quads I think this setup should work well.

My other question besides feedback on the components I have chosen is my battery. I have some 3000mah 3s lipos I would like to use for my quad, would this be too much battery weight wise? Battery weighs in at 270g.

I did some more reading and got a basic idea of how much thrust I will have and how much is required.

My quad will weigh roughly 1000g and I will be generating roughly 3200g of thrust with my setup. So the 3000mah battery I want to use should be perfect.

The 2830 is a good motor for a 1kg quad. They have a pretty good range in that 750kv will give long battery life and the 900kv makes for a good sporter.

Thanks for the feedback pug. I was reading all the reviews on the motors on hobbyking and it seemed like a lot of ppl have had good success with these motors on quads.

And sporty is exactly what I was aiming for.

Anyone with this frame out there that can chime in and let me know if it comes with the hardware to mount the control board?

It does not say or show in the talon description but in the extra parts menu the hardware kit has 4 alum tubes and 8 screws, looks to be for the control board?

Hi !
Aluminum tubes go on the bottom of "legs" - landing gear.
Bras standoffs connect centerplates.

You have pictures of assembled frame

Ahh now I see where they go. So I have to come up with my own mounting hardware for the control board.

Unless You have zero vibrations use double face foam tape (I use double sandwich - foam tape - thin plastics - foam tape).
If You are vibration free You can use plastics standofss and plastics screws form HomeDepot or ACE

I did't finish it - but for $35 I can buy one CF tube so can't be picky.
I use to build my own frames (Tri) - Talon was accident (friend order it for me)
This weekend I will attach some pictures.

I have a good understanding on how to setup my radio for choppers but I'm guessing it's a little different for quads? No servo mixing correct? I will be using a fs-th9x, any setup tips or tricks?

So sounds like turn all mixing off and set trims to zero and I'm good to go for my quad.

Went to osh today and picked up some hardware that should work for mounting the control board. Some 1" nylon spacers, 1.5" aluminum 6/32 screws, some rubber washers to dampen vibration and some 6/32 nylock nuts.Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1336168384.030290.jpg

Also should allow me to mount my rx directly underneath, all the inputs are on the side of the rx, which is nice Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1336168463.543291.jpg

Ordered my talon and electronics from hobbyking two weeks ago and tracking still says its in hk... International orders are a pita. I normally avoid ordering from hobbyking or china in general for this exact reason... But they had everything I needed all in one stop...
