So a satelite seems to be the way to go. I just dont trust a reciever being right next to a battery and esc. theres lots of metal and emf to block signals. I used to have brown out issues with my stryker. i carved a recess about 2 inches away from the battery tray out in the wing for a satelite and not ever an issue.

Finally got around to trying to balance the changesun fan on a 5s. I'm pulling a little under 1000 watts with the 2100kv l2855 motor at 18 volts using the gens ace 2200nah 5s pack. Haven't messed with timing, but i'm sure I can get a little more thrust with more suitable timing.

Battery was warm after a discharge, but not hot. Average flight temp. This fan moves a MASSIVE amount of air. I look forward to installing it to my zephyr. Gonna have to do some cutting because the shroud is too long for the zephyr, but this looks like it will go quite well.



Anyone know a good way to measure efflux speed?

SN: I think i may end chopping off the front of the zephyr and stretching the front with some fiberglass...along with making a new canopy. After i break the nose of course.....

I finally got some time to work on my new Zephyr. Discovered both elevator & rudder servos were not glued in. Servo screws were threaded into foam! Just spun when I tried to remove them. Servos held in by the servo wire & friction. Pried them up a bit & hit them with some white Gorilla Glue. Aileron servos seem to be well glued.

Make sure you guys check all the servo mounts & factory glue joints.

I have my Zephyr out in a pretty gusty breeze this morning. You should have seen the wings twist about. I did one full throttle pass into the head wing and I had to back off before the wings went terminal. Then the wind speed cranked up a few notches as I came down wind to set up my approach and as soon as I banked the wind hit it and sent is vertical a long way up before I manage to bring it back for a steep and bumpy inbound approach. I thought I would over shoot but the head wind put the brakes on it pretty quick as killed off the throttle. Quite a nerve racking second half of the flight. I'm going to rest her now until the gale warning passes, and left her to chat with her friends

Gadget968, I Like that idea of having the rx out on the wing. I think I might do that as it will free up space for a battery too!

Its just a plastic cup I found in the kitchen. I just used a vernier caliper measure the diameters for entry and exit and cut the cup down to suit. Then just cut a small recess for the cabling to pass through and attached it with electrical tape to the EDF. Its not as long as the previous one I made out of X-ray film as I wanted to retain the cool EDF sound. It gets the job done

Have a look around your house, or in the tupperware section at the supermarket. There's thrust tubes everywere.

I went and copied the "esc in canopy" mod. Pretty cool, just cut a hole big enough for the esc heatsink, pushed it through for a good dry fit and lined the inside with hot glue, added weight there from the glue should also help my cg issues with smalled batteries, I currently only own one 2500mah 3s
Heaps more room in there too now.

I've now torn 2 ailerons and 1 rudder/elevator surface off. Getting sick and tired of repairing this plane, never been crashed, not even a hard landing, just from general flying. If anyone in the Perth (Aus) area looking for a replacement V70, let me know!

Mick, I'm not sure what it is. You may recall my recent incident when I landed "perfectly" and both ailerons tore off. I would strongly suggest you consider applying some hinge tape one the flat side of those control surfaces.

Good advise regards the tape. I guess its nothing unusual as all my other foam hinge planes eventually end up splitting hinges after a while.

Have torn a control horn plus hinges.
The plane does fly well after a bunch of mods and stuffing around but it still doesnt excite me.
