Question

UHU Por source

I really want to try this stuff but the ones I find the price doubles for shipping. Is there some kind of hazmat tariff?

Do you have a source for this? I'm in the U.S.

UHU Por Glue from Australia

Both the above mentioned places seem to charge about $9 a tube. I'm not sure what their postage rates are but it may even be cheaper to buy it from me here in Australia. As an example if you buy 4 tubes you only pay $7 per tube and postage to USA id about 10USD. Hope this helps.

Ya, lots of uhu sources in Oz, there seems to be a standard shipping rate of $12 to send to U.S. Demon's second link is out of stock, the first one is $10. I actually got 2 other items I've been looking for which qualified me for free 2 day shipping. I took my door bell button off the wall, my UPS guy never knocks and the bell does not work, no, it's not worth fixing, wireless aftermarket corroded as all get out. Will he knock this time?

Thanks all.

It's pretty much what I was hoping for as far as consistency. I like using shoe goo but it films over very fast and you may have to pick chunks out so you don't get part separation, and when filmed over, does not stick well. This is thinner and does not skin up nearly as fast. Parts with a thin layer on each one can be tacky enough to be a contact cement so, fast or slow setting. It does not stink as much either.

I made a hinge tonight with it, I'll check it tomorrow.

How does UHU Por compare to the Welder brand available at Lowe's? Welder is 1/4 the price and similar to Goop (however it's much thinner and dries quicker).

I don't see the point in spending twice as much for UHU unless there's something spectacular about it (?)

UHU doesn't affect most foams (Depron, FanFold, styro) while Welders will destroy most except EPP.

I got the HK stuff Bare, the consistency is slightly thicker and it skins slightly quicker. I'll prolly keep both on hand.

I didn't know that about welder's either.

And here is why I think it's OK to spend big bucks on glue: As far as construction goes, gluing is what we do! Don't get me wrong, I use other glues also, but this one is best for ME for most applications. I'll never give up my gorilla glue.
