Oran it looks great. Tell us how it flew.

Sorry lost service while talking last night. I came home, fixed dinner, ate and fell asleep in the chair. Been some hard, long days at work.

I will call today.

Oran,

does Andy fly better with a cross tail than your SHRIKEs with a v-tail? Any noticeable difference?

I have only had 1 V tail and I think they fly the same....

I might have to make a V tail version to find out.....

Wings: joiner tubes installed, roots faired-out against fuse, edges spackled and sanded.

Mylars: painted and ready

OK, next step... does early next week work for you Oran? Monday/Tuesday evening?

We have to:
bag the wings
make the stabilizers, bag them, attach them to fuse
clean-up the fuse
make a canopy
install and assemble everything

...did I miss anything?

Hi Oran!

Are you still bagging Shrike wings? I just snagged an option-2 kit with poplar skin material, but based on the way I have been dinging up the built up wing on a plans-built 2m Chandelle, I'm thinking I should go glass on this one...

Kinda off-topic-on-topic question: has anyone built a speed-brake for their Shrike? I've done a lil digging and the pop-up canopy idea looks interesting, but not sure the Shrike nose has enough room... plus I can't find any clues on where to get the hardware... I don't have a machine shop in the garage ;-)

The LZ's here in south orange county generally involve landing in a bush and I'm not the greatest pilot... just want to keep my baby-soon-to-arrive in flying condition as long as possible... plus popup canopies are just wicked cool.

Is it even worth the effort + weight?

Rob-sten (RCG name) sells canopy hardware, as does Winchdoc. I think the hardware Rob sells would be better suited for the Shrike, and its not real expensive. Winchdocs is awesome but for larger, heavier builds IMHO.

The canopy on a Shrike is not a whole lot smaller than the Rotor, and the Rotor/canopy brake combo seems to slow it down.

FWIW,

Jim

Hi Jay,

You are more than welcome to come on down and bag a wing, either yours or I have a few sets of cores here.

I will send you a PM with my phone # and we can figure out a time to come down.
