Yippee!

So we bought the world's ugliest car and then ....

... burnt it.
A large number of us at www.performanceforums.com got together to by this terrifyingly ugly POS and destroy it to make the world a better place.

DESTROYING THE WORLD'S UGLIEST CAR (10 min 38 sec)

Good for a laugh anyway.

Well, that's 10:37 out of my life, what a waste. Back when I had hair, we destroyed many cars, some of which are now worth a fortune (Packards, Chryslers, Lincolns, etc) in demo derbys, and some just for the challenge. We found an abandoned build site on a slope with a road leading down into it: the game was to drive down the road, and just before the cut, apply hard left rudder, and see how many times it would roll... 3 or 4 was normal, but the record was six before it landed in the creek. Poor ol' 37 Chev never had a chance...

I think it's not really unnecessary. Yes and no. See, at the end when the fire was put out, there was some big water, mixed with what I presume would be class B foam. It looked like a 1.5" and a 2.5" or thereabouts, in other words, lines and flow rates only firefighters use. So it appears some fire department was able to use the car as training for putting out a car fire.

Just my 2 cents as a former volunteer firefighter.
