Thanks Mark. I've been checking out your blog. I'll have to just do it one of these days. I just caught a cold this week so I'll be in bed for a bit. Don't forget to mention the different settings with the ailerons, rudder, etc as that realy screw me up when I first try the firmwares. Ended up killing a few servos that way. I'm noob so those little details make a huge difference, so choosing the correct one is important.

Things derailed quite too much off-topic, so, if it is to rant, let at least rant on topic, for example, the new radio motherboard

Anyone pointing a real bad point will get a bonus

renatoa: Thanks for the picture.
Is this latest version? There is Rev0.3 12.10.23 - which would mean about 3 months old. Also is there schematic available? That would be better for comments than board picture. Board quality looks good. Extra point for fixing that wire bridge. Not all manufactures do that.

jkishan16: Spektrum advertisement in FrSky thread, what a heresy!

That patchup wire (the red one) is disgraceful.
They could have done it a little less obvious.

Other than that the board looks like a pretty nice layout. Nice and compact

Currently it looks like it will ship with two firmware on it as standard.

Option one. A simple easy to use firmware to suit noobs. This will be the firmware that frsky build/develop.

Option two. OpenX9D. (open9x). The plan may change, but current thoughts are that if you insert the sdcard you swap magically to open x9d.
Super! I suggested this on the DX8/DX10 thread when we argued about the supremacy of the template based mixers vs "free mixer" Spektrum boys were not very excited about it.

If revisions are still being done to the motherboard then I don't see how this can hit general availability by March.

I hope PCB on the renatoa picture is just a prototype maybe the picture doesn't make justice but these ones look better quality for me.

Why do they need to put a battery in it?

Couldn't they have avoided the need for a battery like most modern systems do?

Atg least they gave us a battery holder to make it easy to change without needing to solder it in.

Real Time Clock? (RTC)

Renota, what's the module under the connector P1 do? Sound/voice generation?

Yes, actually it's a separate board, not so visible due to resize. PCM5100

Could you give us an idea on the quality of the pots/gimbals?

You worry about the NDA but you post pictures of their board???

And yes the battery is for a real time clock. You don't have to worry about it... just like your computer (which also has one), it'll out last the product that its in.
