Super Falcon-25

Just finished this Bobcat lookalike, Super Falcon-25 for my friend Rick. 80mm EDF runs on 6s 4000mah pack.
Wingspan 40", length 46". Weight 5.2 lbs. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this weekend for the maiden flight.

Very nice. Can you provide some component details or build log?

This plane is an ARF from

It has a fiberglass fuselage and built up wings.
Originally intended for a .25 size nitro engine or conversion to electric. My friend Rick bought 2 of these. One for conventional electric motor/prop configuration and this one I built for him to be ducted fan. The fan is an 80mm which I believe is this one
We did a static run up of the fan yesterday and it was pulling 75 amps on 6s for appx. 1650 watts.
There really is not much to the build. There is no glue necessary for assembly as all the parts screw together, with the exception of CA hinging the control surfaces. I did have to make a custom EDF mount to adapt the fan to this model. The prop version also had to have a custom motor mount made from a piece of aluminum "L" bracket. Also I replaced the stock landing gear with the dual shock absorbent ones you see in the picture. The plane just comes with the standard bent wire gear.
Gonna take it out today for the maiden flight.

Thanks for the info. I am interested in hearing about the maiden and how she flies on that particular setup.

BTW - where did you source the landing gear?

Got a good maiden flight + 2 more in today. This plane flies just like it's turbine big brother. 90-100mph top end by estimation, with unlimited vertical. Landing speed is quite fast so it takes the whole runway for landing, but takes off in only about a 40 foot roll.

I'm pretty sure these are the landing gear I adapted to this plane:
They worked great!
There's really nothing wrong with the landing gear the plane comes with. Rick just wanted to use these because they look cool and make for smoother landings.

Installing them on the mains LG was no problem because the wire size was just right to slide into these shocks, but for the nose I had to make a new wire out of 1/8" piano wire so that it would fit into the nose strut. Then I had to put brass sleeves around that wire so it would fit snugly into the steering block on the firewall.

PS: the cg that it calls for in the instruction manual is right on where it needs to be.

Very nice. It is always good when the plane flies as expected or hoped for. Thanks for the link. Did you cut in for retracts or just go with the fixed gear?
