For openings in deck and hull you can use small drillbit with diameter as slot on the deck or full. I used steel bar glued by double site tape and drill bit. I had all this work done in two days. I have to find out pictures, how to make it. Sub is excellent, I have this beauty second year.

1500 flood-holes and vents in two days

I have build her also (not ready) but the holes are done but its takes me a lot more time to do it.

But your method looks promising.

Jan.

With files it is work for 6 months. ;-) and ugly holes. But Horseman, your looks beautifull. Summer is comming, make it ready, you will have a lot of fun. Last weekend I had excellent time on the lake with my Type 212,water is extremely clean, this part of year, visibility around 7meters. Small advise on the end. All removable parts-tower, fromt and rear cover put on thin rope, fix it to hull. I lost cover once, but I had diving time too ;-) Magnets works, but on speed it is on the edge. On slow motion, there is not problem.

It would seem Engel could make this kit with the floodholes already done. Your time should be building the kit not opening holes that never look the same when done.
