EAA 690 April 13th Meeting & Program

At Friday, April 13th's EAA Chapter 690 meeting Ralph Knight (President of the SMRCC) will be showing and discussing a documentary about Light Spotter Planes that were utilized in WWII. This production was a “Made for TV” episode that originally aired on the History Channel with Cliff Robertson narrating

Ralph Knight was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and holds a B.S in Mechanical Engineering from Lowell Technological Institute (now part of U Mass). He served in the USAF from 1963-1969, and flew KC-135's in the Strategic Air Command (SAC). After leaving the Air Force he joined Southern Airways in 1969, surviving two mergers: Republic Airlines in 1978 and Northwest Airlines in 1986.

In 2001 Ralph retired after logging a total of 22,500 flight hours with his final commercial airplane piloted being a B-747-400. During his career he has flown the following: C-152-, C-172, C-182, Mooney Exec 21, T-37, T-38, KC-135, Martin M-404, DC-9 (dash 10, 30, 40, 50), Airbus A-320, DC-10, B-747-400.

Ralph lives in Lilburn with his wife Ann. They have three grown children. Although retired he still fly’s with the Civil Air Patrol, is part owner of a Mooney, flies R/C models and is a member of EAA Chapter 690.

The meeting will be held in the Chapter hangar at 690 Airport Road, Briscoe Field, Lawrenceville beginning at 7:30 PM Friday, April 13th. Many members gather at the Flying Machine for dinner around 6:00 PM and all are welcome.
