Why does it have to be skinned? Hobbyking make their own planes, motors, escs, batteries and Rxs (including DSM2 Rxs). Why can't they make their own Tx?

Sure it won't be a ultra high quality JR 12 channel but why are you even buying from Hobbyking if you have that kind of money.

On Twitter the Hobbyking guys have stated many times it has the same chipset and number of channels (and maybe software) but everthing else is desinged and built in house (and Hand said start up costs are coming out of his own back pocket).

make = place a label ?
I would love to see a picture from inside their production facilities...
Sorry to be so skeptical, but maintaining a database of all their motors and ESC original manufacturer, I would say I am rather realistic.
No, even DSM receivers are not manufactured by them, you can find them in transparent wrap or black cases on eBay under no brand.
For your info, at manufacturer level in China there are no brands, everything is manufactured in big 6 facilities. I mean electronics.
From there a lot of company label and case them as they like.

HK released a YouTube clip of their production facilities for their NTM motors so they do have them.

There is a difference between relabeling something that someone else have done in comparison to designing something and letting someone else produce it for you.
I think HobbyKing must be doing the latter, since nothing like the 9xr exists today. If it had existed, we would know about it.

My guess is that it should come this week since the 9X has gone to BK without signs of restocking

HK released a picture of a man in their office holding a prototype transmitter (gimbals and switches on an aluminum box), saying that the 9xR was coming soon. It would have to be an elaborate hoax if this is just a relabeling job.

http://turnigy9xr.com/

There are some pictures and some "other content". The web page is registered by Anthony Hand.

Maybe somebody can take screenshots before it vanishes...

Weirdest-A$$ website for a radio ever... What's with the random music page and hipster fashion cameo? I don't get it.

Hopefully I'll still be able to load a Turnigy module in it for Walkera/Ladybird Quads.

Yeah, looks like the website is in development. Hopefully that's not what's holding up the 9xr from being released for sale.

Here's an interesting tidbit:

Quote:
THE 9XR SOFTWARE WAS FIRST DEVELOPED OVER 6 YEARS AGO AND HAS BEEN TWEAKED, TUNED CHANGED, UPDATED AND REVAMPED BY MEMBERS OF THE R/C COMMUNITY TO A POWERFUL YET

EASY TO USE INTERFACE THAT CAN BE USED BY ANYONE. OUR ENGINEERS DESIGNED PHYSICAL PRODUCT AROUND THE THE RC COMMUNITIES SOFTWARE CHANGES. RESULTING IN THE 9XR.

OUR TEAM CONSISTS OF ELECTROMECHANICAL ENGINEERS, SOFTWARE ENGINEERS, INDUSTRIAL DESIGNERS AND R/C PROFESSIONALS.
Hinting at th9x or er9x?
