One of the claimed advantages of the 7805 is that it won't generate RF noise... I know the FPV guys recommend using linear regulators to cut down on video downlink interference. I'm not sure if this would apply for the Tx however.

To me, the big deal is that it's er9x ready... I can recommend it to friends without implicitly volunteering my time to help with the upgrade!

Unfortuntely, it seems the supply of this model (with readily detachable module) has dried up, even from other vendors. They all have the wired-in flysky module now.

Yeah one can say 9xr is already obsolete being built on 10 year old stuff and that is quite valid point.

On the other hand the main task the tx is for has not changed in 50 years - passing the position of two sticks to the craft.

Do you know already the pin lay out for soldering (red/black/yellow) the FrSky DIY kit?
By the way it will be difficult to find some room to mount the FrSky unit, but I think it can be done.

Yes its the same as the 9x.

If you mean the DHT module when you say "FrSky unit" then no it isn't difficult at all to "find some room", if no where else there's the module bay.

Why not, if it had proper charge circuitry built in. Nearly every other device that uses Li-Po charges internally, and Im sure you own at least a few of them and charge them like such. However, the necessity for a 3S Li-Po is greatly debatable.

Yes I mean the DHT module (this one I have ordered for the 9XR: https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...er_Module.html )

I was also thinking of mounting the DHT in the module bay. And I have an 9X module so I can use that cover too

More and more 9xr's on ebay. I'm not sure if they were purchased to sell, or if people are jumping ship, but I haven't seen any sell yet. The prices are coming down though.

Just curious (for now) - what is the price point to make an ebay 9xr worthwhile instead of waiting for HK? It seems like the bloom is off the rose, and no one is going to pay anything outrageous and if you bought a bunch of them on speculation to sell for $200+ I guess you are disappointed with the results far

seems like you answered your own question. apparently not all the lemmings went over the edge (or at least slowing down before jumping).

I'm asking $115 for mine shipped. $85 was my cost with shipping 10$ to ship it to whoever buys it and $20 for getting it when it's not available otherwise. Take away paypal fees and I'm not really making much.

I've seen people talk about buying 5 of them the first go round so I'm sure there were plenty who bought it with the intent to resell.
