Here's what they are saying...

BTW, neither companion9x, nor current version of eepe at the moment support 9xr firmware, as the eeprom structure has been changed.
So unless HK forks also a version of eepe computer programming support is not existent.

Icant see any issues with HK making a new radio which can use the already existing code from 9x, and in a few weeks we also will see an eepe etc that works with it.

by Dvogonen - wouldn't hold my breath on that one. Romolo, who just made the comment that there will be no support for the data format in eepe or companion9x, is the maintainer of companion9x.
If he doesn't want it, it will not happen. At least not in companion9x.

You're quoting someone who answered a question he didn't understand in the first place
OK that is good news, thank you

Even if they changed the eeprom file format you should still be able to flash it with the other firmwares.
Just that you will not be able to load the 9XR eeprom into eePe for editing/ translation. No big deal since you don't have any models setup yet.

Having said that, there was an earlier post (this thread perhaps) that showed the differences between ER9X and "HK9XR". I don't recall anything about the file format, it was mainly menus and templates.

As I said before, if indeed they have "forked" unless they have a very good programming team HK9XR will be a dead end, and everyone will switch to the well supported ER9X/Open9X.

I agree!

You can see the code changes side by side here:

Just click on "diff" to the right of the file.

I'm not overly impressed.

That's all good, I want to flash my 9XR with eR9x to keep it in line with my 9x's, its what I'm used to & like but wanted to make sure I can flash it back to HK9XR if necessary (if ebay beckons).

I can't wait for all the assumptions & miss information to be over.

They aren't as good as the original 9x, but that's just my opinion.

Thanks kovs, it's sounding more and more like I'm just as well off keeping my 9X then. Sure wish Hitec hadn't dropped selling their gimbals.

The 9XR also has less vertical movement on the gimbals (more rectangular than the 9x), but I don't have a problem with it. For me, it will be perfect but if you are expecting a big increase in quality then you might be disappointed.

The Gimbals on my 9XR feel better than the gimbals on both my 9x's, they are allot smoother & feel more solid.
