And if they used the serial data lines instead of a regular I/O to drive the "PPM" pin and included a return data line from the module using the unused "6 volt" pin in the JR pinout then they could add DSMX telemetry support down the road.

This is the sort of thing that "the developers and hard core users" would have suggested had we been consulted at all

I missed the first 9xR purchase as I was on the fence between the 9XR and X9D from FrSky.

Well it "looks" like FrSky is doing it right by working with Open9x guys... Seems their radio will have some type of model match function and ball bearing gimbals amongst other improvements.

Yeah but I figured many people have a flysky module laying around about to be thrown in the trash... Cheaper than $20. Thanks for the link though!

You'll be luckly if you find one cheaper than $20. I bought one off the classifieds forums and paid $20 for it. That seems to be the going rate. It probably cost $5 to ship it. So the seller is only getting $15.

Does the antenna connection interfere (physically) with a normal JR module? Looking at the CAD drawings it looks like that might be the case.

No. The 9XR module won't fit in other radios, but every JR module will fit in the 9XR

The 9XR has a hole, and the module has the bumpy part.

The hole goes in, and does not interfere at all.

Probably right, however I got lucky and fellow member just offered my their 9X module with duck ant modded on the back for pretty fair price. For the most part this forum is full of helpful and generous people.

Anybody real the manual
Introduction

The 9XR is a computerized radio from Turnigy.
The transmitter is outfitted with a 128x64 pixel monochrome LCD, two x 2 axis gimbals, three variable potentiometers (pots), six 2-position switches, one 3-position switch and some funky Digital trims.

Radio? Screwdriver!
Has anyone tracked their 9XR deliveries yet and seen them leave HK?

Both of mine seems still sitting in a warehouse somewhere in Hong Kong, waiting to be flown out...

This is normal, I never seen departures faster than 3 days from Hong Kong office, even if shipped from HobbyKing.
Mine is not even recorded in HKPost system.

Apart from the Christmas period and Chinese holidays, I very, very rarely see it take 3 days to be processed.

Usually it takes 1 working day before HK Post registers the tracking code for me, and before December, the whole delivery usually took 5 working days after the tracking code is active.

One order I did on cheapest delivery (i.e. HK Post), the other I sent SCS Express - which shows:
Code:
Tracking Result
JOBNO: 85209xxxxxx
Origin Destination	Connote DATE	PCS
SCS HONG KONG	UNITED KINGDOM	2012/12/26	1

DATE TIME	LOCATION	STATUS
2012/12/26	1438	SCS-HKG CHECK IN BY SCS SCS-HKG-BAR CODE COLLECTOR
2012/12/26	1740	SCS-HKG BAG IN BY STAFF CODE 90001-SCS-HKG

No, you read it wrong. What it is saying is FrSky has named their software project "OpenX9D" , not that they are using Open9X.
