All this thread has turned into is piss take on each other....it's no longer useful in anyway shape or form....People are speculating about something that has not even been released let alone a feature set.

All this speculation... I just can't wait until this is released so we can start complaing about new things like slow shipping and the features on the radio that don't work the way we expected etc.

I wonder if these radios are in continous production right now, or if they just contracted for X number to be produced and are holding on the second batch in case they have to fix something major after version 1 hits the streets. Either way, it's nearly Winter in my part of the world, so if I can get one before Spring, I'll be happy.

All that is really left to speculation is what the firmware will be like, and if the gimbals are better than the 9X. AFAIK, it has been confirmed by HK it will be electronically the same as the 9X. We have pictures to tell us what it looks like.

Some of us have been trying to go about the comparison from an academic perspective. Some people just cant see past the marketing BS.

Like I said before, the only real thing that will make it a better radio than the 9X is if they used ball bearing gimbals (which I doubt), and the fact it will have better off-the-shelf firmware, but that is TBD as well.

The "missing two switches" can be seen in this photo. The 9xr does have the same number of switches as the 9x.

So much for all the theorizing and speculating.

Seems the only person with true clairvoyance is stevea.

Yep, your right. I didnt think to look at that pic. However, that makes the argument that it will be electronically identical to the 9X even stronger.

Who here will try to get their hands on the 9XR?

If you don't already have one, go ahead.

The only difference is ER9X and the DSMX.

Go get a DSMX module and flash with ER9X for a total of $30 shipped and you will have an oddly shaped Turnigy 9XR.

If you have a 9X, it's not worth it. I thought it would have built in telemetry or something.

They have 3 pots! Excessive much?

I would have LOVED to see a mini stick for pan/tilt or at least one slider for flaps.

Maybe replace a POT with a slider. Most people use a pot for flaps anyway!

Replace 2 pots with pan/tilt like this:

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1754885

Or replace one of them with a slider on the left side so we can control flaps, or maybe 2, one for flaps, one for airbrakes.

One thing I can see on the picture from the radios above, is that on the open radio at the top of the picture, the back PCB looks identical to the one in on the 9x..

The 9XR was designed from day one to run open source firmware. It was to be a replacement for the 9x with better hardware and firmware, not a leap forward in technology.

It would have to be nearly identical to the 9x to run er9x or openx. I wouldn't be surprised if the delays were not related to porting the firmware over to the 9XR.
