If you value your hexa AP ship, the one place to NOT cheap out on is those silly orange receivers.

use them for foamy airplanes, but not for something that you value.

If you must fly Spektrum, I recommend you do two things.

First is to ensure you have DSMX, and secondly, use a diversity receiver, ie a full range spektrum receiver, NOT one thats listed as a park flyer type such as the AR6100's.

I have a park flyer receiver lying here and I was thinking thesame.
So with the ordering of some parts from HK I also ordered the Orange + satellite.
Is the cheap Orange receiver good? Or is there really a difference with a original Spektrum receivers?

you know, I thought, when building my big hexa, that I would want 40amp speedo's for that extra margin.

Well I hooked up the watt meter yesterday while flying my droidworx hexa
Its got avroto 2814's spinning gemfan 12x3.8 props, 6 hobbywing Platinum Pro 40amp speedo's, lifting two 3800mAh 4s packs, Naza, extra droidworx plates for the equipment, a full led set including two Xen LED infrared controllers, a full Immersion FPV set including the EZOSD, an Aeroxcraft go pro gimbal and of course the Hero2 itself.

My ship isn't considered "light"

At half throttle/hover, the watt meter and Ezosd current display never showed over 31amps of draw total.
That works out to be about 5.15 amps per motor

I think your 30amp speedo's for your hexa is plenty.

If you trust your expensive Hexa to a cheap clone receiver....then cool

No no...don't get me wrong.
I wouldn't use DSM2 if you gave me a full set, strictly Futaba am I.

but since the OP has the dx7, I'd recommend he lessen his chances of crashing the works and not compound the issues with DSM2 with a clone receiver.

So Unrealistic, since you will be using Spektrum, I'd recommend you update your radio to DSMX and get a real Spektrum DSMX receiver designed for full range reception.

Thx for the tip.
I will look for an original Spektrum with satellite then.

I received my first parts today:
7 iPower 2814 motors:

And 7 600 CF booms from HK:

These are really light! No aluminium as with the Align's.
I will cut them down, probably to about 40cm (16 inches).

And parts from HK for a quad.

Can I bend the wires on the motors?
They are not completely lined up with the boom:

This is with 3 uncut arms.
It is 1.3 meter diameter (51 inch )
Probably will cut the booms to 40cm / 16 inch.

I am puzzeling to find the best place for the esc's.
Does anyone have any tips for this?
