My new HT-FPV frame also has a see saw effect when laying flat on the table. I've disassembled the entire frame, carefully examined all the arm joints for irregularities and simply could find none. All the stand-off's are the exact same length, etc.. Put it back together and the see saw is back. I am just starting my build and this is a bit disconcerting. I'm hoping it doesn't cause any real flight issues.
Does anyone's frame sit level without the see saw? Curious. |

I had this problem and it is the CG. Move the batter way back and try it.

Could you post some pictures? Mine assembled without issue and there is no warping.

Success. I haven't glue insulated anything yet but I soldered the battery lead to a new positive pad and the ohm meter showed the same amount of resistance as the other connections when I used it on the XT60 connector. Then I crossed my fingers and plugged in a 4S lipo, and that familiar ESC chime rang.
It's not the prettiest soldering I've ever done, but considering the thickness of the wire I couldn't have done much better without pouring on the solder and running the risk of it bridging on to an adjacent pad. It works, and it's soldered on there securely (I was able to start lifting the entire frame when I tested how strong the solder was), so I figure after it's all insulated it'll be fine. |

Great to see that you are making progress!

When I assemble my stuff I lightly snug the screws down, then you can check for any twisting, apply corrective counter twists, check again, and tighten (cross pattern is better) the screws...even if just a little at a time until they're all good. A little twisting probably isn't going to cause any serious issues, other than cosmetics. Tom posted a picture of a motor purposely mounted way out of plane with the others and the frame flew fine. |

With just the arms fitted and the middle plate in place I am able to start all for screws (1 for each arm) and everything is fine. The instant that one screw gets any sort of torque to it from tightening the problem begins. I'm assuming that something needs to be filed. I'm okay with that but at the same time I do not want to introduce more problems. My guess would be the area adjacent to the upper tabs on the offending arm? Any thoughts? |

Seesaw Fixed
Okay - don't ask me how or why this worked but it did.
After a few hours of drinking around with this I tried a new approach. If your frame is doing what mine was, you will have a diagonal seesaw from rear to front. Had mine apart a few times and the more I worked with it the more I got lost. Was it the front arm? The rear arm? Another arm? Not as Simon,e as it looked. So.. I put the frame back together with three arms in place and the front seesaw arm on its side. The only screws through the middle plate were the three for the properly installed arms. At this point everything sat properly. Next, I rotated the loose arm up and into place. Lift the front of the middle plate to give some clearance. Got the last arm into place, tightened it down and my seesaw was gone. Followed up with cross pattern of remaining screws and life was good again. I did notice that the escs in the front arms are a way more snug now and I'm wondering if since they were flexing the inner-most portion of the arm in some way. I used to be able to slide them around a bit but now they're clamped down solid which I'm hoping is not a problem. We shall see. Anyway - worth a shot if you are having the same issue. |
