How to build a SAB Goblin 700 RC Helicopter

Here it is folks, the Goblin build vids. I split it up to 2 parts, should make it easier to absorb over a single 1:40:00 vid. Part 1 covers what's in the box, the head, the motor mount, the skids and the frame. Part 2 covers the rest, including the tail, belt set up, the canopy, battery mounting, and a final look.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to shoot me a PM.

For the latest tips on the Goblin heli, visit their site at http://www.goblin-helicopter.com

Once the rain goes away I will get vids posted of this baby in action.

Yes, I was sure to mention the distance from boom to the tip of the blade in my build video.

Thats not correct. The early runs of the heli had issues. Have a look at what he says at 1.45 mark in the video I just posted.

Hello everyone, being doing some research as I prepare to order components for a Goblin 700. I've watching some videos of Goblin 700 running on 6S setup. How feasible is to fly this heli on that voltage if you are not into hard 3D flying? Is this a recipe for an unstable flying experience? I'm more into slow / scale flying.

I tried 600 on 6s with 75 amp esc. If you run limited headspeed and pitch curves, you *could* stay under 78 amps(that's where my castle log was peaking)

700 will fly scale as we have black_angel do it around here with his frenzy stretched to 700, so I'm sure goblin may do similar, but why not go 12s? Seems like a crippling move to limit such a model to 6s

I'm sure flying on 6S is 'possible' though if it's a good idea is another thing*. The Goblin two stage reduction allows for a wide range of different primary and tail drive ratios so mechanically it's doable. The head damping may be an issue though, on my Goblin 630 i get quite a bit of cyclic wobble at lower headspeed due to the very stiff head damping.

You can very easily run the Goblin on the 12S setup that it is designed for but lower the gearing a bit for a slightly more relaxed headspeed. At least that way you have the option of increasing the headspeed again simply by swapping a pulley, should you want/need to.

*IMHO running the Goblin on a low power 6S setup is kinda missing the point of a Goblin. It's a bit like transplanting a golf cart motor in a Ferrari; sure its possible but why would you want to?

The Goblin 500 flies pretty nicely on 6s

- but a 700 on 6s? why do it?

- just go 12s, and drop the Headspeed if you want, and get nice long flight times
