I failed to best my previous flight time but I had to try out my new Ram 3...
I got to just over 2000 ft when I chickened out and bailed out of the thermal by spirialing down, Mr. dee-grose your feat of over 3000 ft is VERY impressive- how do you have your wings painted?!!

My black, red and yellow wings turned all black against the blue sky at 2000 ft., perhaps its best to go back to mostly white.

I think Dee has the eyes of an eagle or something. 2000' is max for this old buzzard..

My wings are stock. Just the stickers that came on it. It all turns black up there anyway. Clouds help tremendously. I wouldn't have gone that high on a clear blue sky.

I put as much black on the bottom as possible, using monocote stick on film.

As Dee said, a cloud in the background helps greatly.

Just a side note here that you guys would get a kick out of...

Yesterday at the LMR contest at SEFF 2012, I took my Radian Pro to 3357 feet AGL. I'll post the altitude plots and more details in a few days when I get home. I'll post a link to the thread when I do.

Ya'll keep them up there!

That's impressive Andy, congrats! I'd like to see your altitude plot.

I'm hoping more experience when my Radian is up high will help me become more comfortable leaving it up there.

I'm also going to put a "Reward if found" and my telephone # on a sticker somewhere on the fuse, that way if I do loose it, I have some hope (however small) of getting it back.

2pm
Sunny, 80s wind 2-3 MPH
53:59 with 29 sec motor run

Personal best for these competitions. First 20 minutes were well over 2000 feet ago and nerve wracking. Constantly spiraling down to stay within sight. Last 30+ minutes were well below and nerve wracking for different reasons. Got to fly with buzzards, a hawk, and even a heron.
First 4 launches of the day totaled around 12 minutes.

Hey Andy can you show me your radio install? I was going to put my ar8000 and telemetry module in but not sure how to pack it all in.

I'll try to snap some pictures for you soon...just got home from SEFF. The AR8000 and TM1000 are a tight fit, but it works.

320pilot, don't forget to change the temp and field elevation for more accurate readings. Also, that's one heckuva climb rate!!! What's your power system? Inquiring minds wanna know!
