Build Log

MiniWii NanoQuad V2

Some of you might have seen the NanoQuad v1 in the MiniWii thread.

Pre-assembly

I never did the build log I intended, I also never did more than one vid:

NanoQuad MiniWii (0 min 47 sec)

I got it flying a bit better since then, but not much, the MiniWii and the SuperMicro ESC's doesn't play well together in a single cell setup, even if they did I still want more power.

Enter 2 cell NanoQuad.

Specs:

Frame - G10 2mm

Small screws - HK-250GT screw pack

Nylon screws - M3 x 16mm

Rubber grommets - 3mm ID

Controller - MiniWii

Motors - AP03 4000kv

Props - GWS style 3x2

ESC's - Aeolian XP-7A

RX - Deltang RX32 or Spektrum satellite

Battery - 350mAh 2S 35C

Targeted AUW - around 65gr.

Targeted thrust - more than 200gr.

More to come.

Assembly.

I'd like the Nano to look clean, so I'll be hiding as much stuff as I can under the FC.

I managed to mess up the RX part as I tried to get PPM stream from ch1 when in fact it's from ch3, easy fixed though.

Note to myself: Read the manual dumbass!

ESC's mounted and wired, I decided to use magnet wire instead of the stock bulky stuff, I initially planned to mount the ESC's under the arms to obscure the frame as little as possible, but since the ESC's are the same nice red color as the MiniWii I decided to try them on top, comments?

Now comes the part where I usually let the magic smoke out - The first power up!
A quick runthrough with the multimeter showed all in order.

Power - Check, success, no smoke!
RX - Check.
Bluetooth - Check.

Next up: Motors.

Stay tuned.....

First outside flight, other than that nothing new, not enough hours in a day so no time for play.
This is rate mode only, flies fantastic, rock solid and heaps of power, still flies like crap in level mode though, I need to mess with the low pass filter etc.
Here's my buddy giving it a careful spin in the open, it's a squirrely little bugger.

NanoQuad V2 outside flight (0 min 51 sec)

Does it now?

Your stuff has never let me down so far, I can see an afro32 in my stable in a not so distant future.

Well, the processor runs at 3.3V and so do all the sensors, I just powered it off a 3.3V source and it still runs, even dropping below 3V seems to be OK, so yeah, I'd say it's safe for 1S. CopterControl is known to run off 1S, and this is same STM32 CPU.

Thanks Jose,
Nah! - Same weight, foldable is a cool trick, but more or less useless in this size.

V2.1 perhaps?
