Question

can i use CA hinges instead of robart hinges on a 65" edge 540?

well, i just placed an order for a phoenix models edge 540 65". i couldn't find an official build thread and theres rarely any information regarding this plane.

im very familiar with CA hinges. im in hopes that CA hinges would be ok.

im flying sport (although this model cant do hardcore 3D)

so yea guys, what do you think?

I would go with the CA personally I have had problems with the Robarts....they tend to fail or pull out if you accidently catch a control surface..moving a plain around...etc

CA takes far more punishment

How confident are you in that statement? I am working on an ARF EDF, fast jet with 7kg servos. They came slotted with CA hinges, but based on what I have read on various forums I am spending a lot of time working out how to replace them with pinned hinges. I have heard from a few that CA hinges 'will do', but never that they are better before!

What makes you say they are better? Often I hear the rigidness that develops from the hard glue plus repeated use equals a good chance the hinge 'cracks' or that the felt separates from the plastic.
