Nah - never a whole square metre. But it pushes the material cost of a DLG wing up to about 4 times what I am used to.

Not much progress....

She's had her final sanding and a first light layer of 50g glass applied with 3M77 and wet out.

After a discussion with Graham, we have decided to build the wings in two parts with a wing joiner.
He's pretty confident that the weight can still be kept to a minimum!
Actually, I'm pretty relieved as I can dump the "Dorsal Fin" idea.
I like the the current clean shape and the wing joiner tube will brace the mid section anyway.
There won't be any cast-in fillets so that we can experiment with wing position and balance....

You obviously have your own crystal ball Chris!

Makes postage to distant shores all that much easier too!
How is your wing analysis going Graham?

Nice progress Johann.

How many layers of cloth do you use for the plug? and is that balsa?

Yeah, It's a balsa plug with a glass stringer...
Previously I used foam, but with a thin slender thingy, it needs some strength to avoid warping and bending!
I'll still apply two layers of 100g cloth.
The Frecote releases well, so it should be thick/strong enough not to damage
We'll see

Errr.... it's pretty cloudy most of time ( crystal ball ),

Still looking into sources of wheels for the fin , at the moment I have a spare one, on its very own axle attached to a wheel barrow.

The plug is looking good J.

Yip, these skinny fuselages are difficult to keep straight. For my Quirk I used a 6mm mdf stringer with 160gsm glass on each side, then I laminated foam on each side and shaped. I like your balsa idea since it's easier to shape.

Not shaping another fuse this year, I already have 2 shaped and ready to mould.
