32 inch TUFF Wing completed

Folks, I just bough a TUFF WING and built it in one day. Here are some pictures. Now just waiting for the weather. Great build, had a Turnigy L2210-1650KV and HXT900 servos ( did not even need servo extensions) laying around and I just shortened the shaft to install the prop. Here are some pictures.

You'll have a blast. It's one of the best flying planes I've owned and right out of the box(bag). Try to figure out if I want to go to 4s and probably ruin it.

So Far So Good but what about the CofG?

I liked the build and the ingenious way for the mfg to cut the foam with an "airfoil" contour and put it all together again to ship in a very small ( safe-to-ship) plastic bag.
I am just hoping the motor I installed will have sufficient power to provide a nice speed and crisp handling , it is 250 Watts so it should be fine with the 7x4 prop. In a rev-up test is gave a serious amount of thrust. I think it will do vertical flight with 1/2 throttle for sure but the maiden will tell me.
One question for you guys in COG, what would be a good number to start off with?? I hear 4 1/2 to 5 inches from the nose??Is that about right??

With a 3s2200mah battery, There is really no room for adjustment. Just put it in the pocket and go. You just have to adjust your elevons mechanically or TX trim.

That combo ought to get you there!

I noticed my 32 porpoising at high speed so I slipped some carbon tubes over the aileron push rods and that stopped it. With your 6s setup you will probably need some kind of reinforcement too.

That is one hell of a motor! It's going to twist the wing :-)

how easy it is to setup cg on this wing? how tough is it? I want to use it for fpv mainly with mobius and fpv camera....I can fly quadcopters and 3d foamy planes... Can this be my first flying wing? how stable is this?

this is a great wing as long as you don't modify it. I tried some changes and just messed it up, seems great as is (only). There are a few where we fly, stock build with the NTM 2836-3000 is superb, insane speed. Round peg for square hole if you weigh it down, etc. Not a beginners wing, way too fast (if there is such a thing)

I don't understand why there isn't more talk about these wings. They're priced right and fly great. The only trouble I've had was from a broken motor mount just like in the EFX thread. I replaced it with a C/F X mount and all is good so far.

I sure would like to see a 36"-40" version of the Tuff Wing.

I agree. It has a covered electronics bay, It does 100mph out the box (with recommended set up), Flies like it's on rails, repairs easy, electronics are top mounted. Its a awesome wing.
