Has the Sbach flown yet?

I've noticed that hobbyking seems to think that tiny electric motors will fly planes. So the motor box is often too long. And I don't think that they know that regular servos are about 35g. Some of the servo mounts they have for 50 inch planes are for tiny servos.

Not sure what they were thinking by the looks of it when they made this motor box. I'd sooner have to spacer the motor than have to mod the box.

This model was not made by Hobbyking but by Flight Model (www.flight-model.com)

Hobbyking suggested the G60 and i don't understand why, i bought this motor and it doesn't fit under the nose canopy.
Now i have ordered a 5055 size motor, this should fit (i hope !!) as is the motor suggested from the make of this arf.

My airplane as not flown yet, i'm assembling it with low pace, i want a job well done :-)

Tinted canopy

Hi FlyDave

I noticed you have the tainted canopy whereas the Hobbyking version is clear. Where did you buy your plane?

Regards
Patrik

Hi Patrik, it is the one from Hobbyking.

Hobbyking sells many versions, balsa ARF and EPO Arf, this one is the Balsa ARF :

I can't count how many flights i have on mine now, over a 100 for sure. Still holding up and haven't had to retighten a thing on it. Built better than some name brand birds i have by the looks of it.

I have mounted the turnigy G60 on my Sbach, for mount this motor I have shortended the engine mount of 1,5 cm in order to fit the motor perfectly. The servos are the suggested by HK, it's sufficient to cut a little the hole.
The propeller is a 15/8 and the battery are 6S.

The only thing is the landing gear that is much weak, and another parts of the fuselage with little glue.

To date I haven't had one problem with my landing gear and I have a ton of flights on this plane. Haven't had to tighten so much as a wheel pant screw. Have had about 30 to 40 since my last post.

What prop are most people using on this plane, I just got a 5055 560kv motor and a carbon fiber 14x7 prop is this enough prop? and that is on 6s
