Question

Polyester resin and EPO (fiberglass resin)

Has anyone tried the above combination? I have an EPO based airframe that will get .75 oz. glass and WBPU. I would like to use a polyester base filler for the surface as a sanding primer over the glass. At the moment I don't have any resin or the Featherfill primer on hand to test. If it is known to react, I will not buy any.
Thanks for any comments,
Ken

I haven't used polyester resin on EPO for fear of melting it.
But I have used 30 and 60 minute epoxy with no problems.
Just make sure you sand all the shinny-ness off the surface of the EPO before you apply the resin.
I had a Multiplex MicroJet that I epoxy-fiberglass/carbonfibered the nose and wing leading edges. Once I flew it into a hillside and the only damage was the lipo.

Thanks.
That's the info I needed. I used Featherfill on a wood telescope and worked great.
Maybe thinned WBPU and cabosil.

that's a better idea. I melted an airframe using polyester and don't want to see someone else suffer that. Phil

I beg to differ. I used polyester resin on my clouds fly and it was fine....... Problem is that it is quite brittle.

Polyester resin will melt EPS foam. It will not melt EPP foam. Unfortunately I've never tried it with EPO so that doesn't help much, sorry.
