This is a lot like what happened yesterday but on a smaller (450) scale.

I thought I was being safe.
I even had safety goggles on in the parking lot where I was testing this at.
I'm seriously lucky I was not hit by that blade that came off.
I have to seriously revisit my level of stupidity and figure out a way to not ever have this happen around myself or other people again.
The blade hit something (right behind me) 50 FT. away instantly I heard it hit at what sounded like exactly the same time I heard the loud POP! of the helicopter exploding.
It sounded exactly like a gunshot and something else getting hit by a bullet behind me.
I don't think it would have ever happened if it weren't for the heavier Align 325mm carbon blades (12 Grams heavier than stock, and single metal washer I was using to make them fit into the blade grips (3 grams).

I think I need to 'convert' this thread into my blog or something ;-)
Anyhow here's another video.. in mild wind of 7-10kts.
At the end I try inverted and the battery tells me no so I kill the power and land really hard with no harm done.
I wish I could fly my CP V2 even half this witty.
You'll have to tell it HD 720P and full screen or you're not going to see anything much.
It's tiny.

MCPx is easy. (2 min 15 sec)

OK here's a cool mod for ya (still hate this helicopter with a passion.
It's only good for hovering practice or a hover trainer period.
Tail blade replaced with one form a Blade mQx!
No more tail blades busting off.

The old bag still flies!
Never had to heart to crapcan it as it was my first single rotor helicopter.
I've learned how to fly it and not crash (never take a fast turn) and never fly in over 5MPH of wind.
With those two rules it will last forever.

Here's my latest video pushing it to it's speed limits in about 3MPH of wind.
It now belongs to my father in-law gave it to him as a gift after rebuilding it one last time.

He doesn't fly it yet, he's learning on an mQx. I usually take it up for a show or two
whenever I'm over there visiting.

Here we are a couple years later.
I am so sad that BALR14 is gone :-(
I don't have his phone# or email address.
He bowed out of the hobby and off this forum.
I think mainly out of frustration with his eyesight and getting older.
I miss him dearly.
I'm flying CP 3D stuff these days and mostly 450 size (my favorite).

That poor CB180 was a chunk of hover only capable material for sure.
Recently a Blade 120 SR was given to me.
Here's me flying outdoors in freezing cold 5-10 MPH winds.
There's no way the Walkera 180 could ever do this without death dives!
Had I known any better in 2012 I would have been learning on a Blade 120 SR
Far better engineering for sure.

Balr14 has forgotten more about helicopters than I will probably even know.

I've been waiting for someone to take his place, and while a few extremely
knowledgeable members have increased their activity in the beginner forum,
there is still a noticeable void.

In the mean time, the hillbilly engineer brigade (I'm the self-appointed chairman) will try our best.
