I'm a new member at KMAC and I'm not able to attend our monthly meetings due to work conflicts. I was looking for a place to chat with other KMAC members and I certainly don't want to send private emails to everyone for general discussions, so I started this thread.

One of the things I hope we can talk about is pylon racing that a few of the members are starting up. I picked up a Formosa to play around with, and maybe join in the racing, but I'm not sure about the exact rules and regulations.

John pointed me to the EMFSO discussions and I wanted to know what the other KMAC members are doing with their Formosa's and what class would be most suitable for my build. I like the idea of the 600 class because it will be a bit easier for me to hit that weight and I like the idea of choosing my own motor and prop. (I already have a power system that will work in that plane, although it will be very slow.)

Also, is the racing at KMAC going to be full on EMSFO sanctioned? Or are will it be more casual?

Anyway, hope to see some KMAC members join in the discussion...

Dave R

Happy flying! (I know I am!)

Here's some video of my first full day at the KMAC field... not the best camera, but it worked.

Hi Dave,

Yes we do have a chat site but it hasn't been used in years and more or less abandoned , maybe being part of R/C groups will make a difference.

With regards to Formosa racing, John wants to keep it casual for now and see where it goes.

Nice video of the field AND congratulations on taking the initiative to set this up

Thanks Dave, I've been to a few of the indoor nights. It's hard for me to get free time, but I'm going to try to make it this week. I picked up a LiddleBug to re-use my 4-Site hardware, but haven't put it together yet. So many things on the go. I want to try and finish my Electri-cub build at the same time... and the Formosa... Just not enough hours in the day.

Of course!

By the way, the "Spec" motor is in stock at HK now if anyone wanted to get one for thier Formosa.

And as of Monday morning Pinnical had at least one Formosa left in stock. $40, I should have grabbed the extra one and saved it for a KMAC member but I wasn't thinking straight... you know how it is in a cool hobby shop like that... sooooo much candy....

Question about foam builds, are most epoxies foam safe now? I've looked up a few different hobby shops and none of the epoxies they carry say anything about being foam safe. I have some 20min epoxy and will do a small test spot to see what it does to the foam.

What is everyone else using for foamies? I have foam safe CA, but I guess that's not the best for putting the two halves of the fuse together... I'm not that fast. (I know... "that's not what SHE said" )
