Been in on this at a couple labs, including one at the Lazy B where the chamber was huge. Cool stuff.

I've got a new green energy scam for you. Use wind or solar to power ionizers to attract lightning and then capture it with giant capacitors. Ben Franklin would be proud and Tesla would say youre doing it wrong.

On similar lines, there was a suggestion many years ago to have large superconducting rings in lightning prone areas to attract lightning to them. The stored energy could then be syphoned off into the power grid.

I have been wondering how much static electricity an RC airplane could pick up from air friction. Might even get a little spark to the earth on a very dry day. Maybe someone with an electrostatic meter could measure it.

That could have caused some receiver failures in the days when the antenna dragged the earth and discharged the airplane's potential on landing.
