Kevin,

Sure is looking good. I use spray can's to paint my boats, if I get a run or blob I sand between coat's with 600 to flatten it out and on the final coat I use 1000 then polish it. Nice looking sail arm, it looks very light.

Thanks Ed,

Your (and Pat's too) "rattle can" paint jobs are what I aspire to. If I can get close it'll be good enough for me. Now all I have to figure out is how to suspend the boat so I can easily paint the areas of the deck, as well as under the counter of the stern in "one shot". Think I'll have to modify my stand a bit, unless I can figure out how to hang the boat high enough. Sorta painted myself into a corner (pun intended....)

Got the deck and bottom masked off and sprayed some color on the topsides of the boat. Didn't come out too bad, some dust and a bit of orange peel. Now to leave it alone for a good long cure before I color-sand it out and see if I need to spray further coats.

Thanks all for the kind words. Ed, it's "Gloss Warm Yellow" from Rustoleum. There aren't too many choices as far as "creamy" yellow colors, at least not that I could find. Didn't think I liked the color much when I first started spraying, but after pulling the masking and looking at it all day, it's growing on me.

Now on to finishing the rudder....

Got the rudder finished and painted. This morning laid out the deck hardware and mounted temporarily, then masked and put down a coat of varnish over the wood area of the deck. Hopefully when I get a few coats of varnish built up and fully cured, I can color-sand /polish the whole boat, to improve some of the flaws/orange peel/etc.

Wow the boat looks really nice. You are an artist with masking tape, the curves on the deck look perfect.

Your boat is really looking great! I like your color choice & the finish you have chosen for the deck. Looks like you're coming down the "home stretch" now

What are you using for the rear fairlead? I need something like that so I can screw it on from the top.
