What's on your work bench?????

Since the Tower Trainer conversion is going to take a while, Brad ordered
a RxR foamie trainer for me to play with.

He installed larger wheels, +1/2" and a larger Battery, 2100 to 2300.
Had to carve a little from the battery box to get the hatch to close.
Just a tiny bit off the top edge.

Not electric, but it is taking a bit longer than planned. The strips are
done in M-cote and a lot of math involved. He is doing the strips on
the wing now. Paint the nose and sell it...

Let everyone see what you are doing! OK??

Pictures required!!! IT is not just a good idea, IT IS THE LAW!

OK, come and arrest me! I don't do pictures because I'm lazy and don't know how to do them into a forum post.

On the bench is my MX2 for a new ESC and to reattach the torn out landing gear. Clean and easy repair thankfully. When an ESC fries, you are pretty much at the mercy of gravity.

Also I have a new 3DHS Extra, just got it today. Motor/ESC/servos due tomorrow. So I have a fair amount of "stuff" to do.

A nice shiny new replacement Webbit for my dear departed Webbit prototype. Needs some servos, a receiver, battery pack and an undercarriage. Thinking that I might make the undercarriage a banded on joby or simplicity's sake.

I'm currently building a Sbach 65 profile. It's gonna be powered by a dle20. Check out my blogs for the complete build.

You might need to check the humidity in your work shop, your airplane has
turned GREEN!

Looks really nice.

Need to send the internet police and get a couple for no pictures violation!

Brad also ordered a Dumas L-19 Birddog kit with all the goodies for it.

They BO'ed the motor! It showed in stock when we ordered it, but some
one beat us to it I guess. Tower had the L-19 kit on sale and didn't have
enough of the motor systems to go with it.

This one will take a while. Brads Dad flew one of these in the AF Reserve.
We have an L-15.

Okay, okay, here's a couple of pictures

Not sure about the colour scheme and definitely needs an undercarriage, but the model had been built for handlaunching, which is something I try to avoid these days.

Hey now,
If ya wants pictures, buy me a camera.
Today I'm working on a Midwest Fantail launch and assembling a Hyperion Cap232-25e. The former is a real build and the latter is just an ARF.

How's about a 52" span low winged aerobatic design?

Most of the effort so far has gone into the plans! Still, I have created a little balsa (and ply) dust...

Aim is to build a sturdy, fully aerobatic sports model around a 3S / 4S Lipo, in the 4S case, looking at around 550 - 600W. Model will involve minimal cutting out, with a constant chord wing, mostly sheet balsa fuselage and a minimum of commercial parts to buy besides woods various and the expensive RC and motor stuff.

Common things like the UC falling off on bumpy landings, poor battery access and a dodgy RC fit with servos hanging out in the airflow will be all dealt with. There's a good chance that the plan and a part-kit of the formers, ribs and suchlike may become available - ideal for one who's learned that BARFs aren't actually perfect and wants to have a model built by someone who cares about their model's quality

Might even do a build thread someplace hereabouts if there's any interest

My current workbench build is rebuilding my workbench!

I was doing Spring cleaning (have to keep after the dust, due to my allergies -- a lifetime of exposure to balsa dust has taken it's toll). Realized the grey painted wooden top was getting shabby, so I put a layer of 1/8" hardboard (apparently a close cousin to Masonite) on top of the old wood. One piece of 4' by 8' fits (had to trim it to fit into the wife's pickup, though) and a few countersunk wood screws keep the hardboard from slipping.

Three coats of Polycrylic, and it's ready for the next project...whenever I get around to drawing it! Have to finish testing my latest, though, before taking up mouse to start drawing. We were going to go out flying and photographing today, but a back door cold front spoiled that idea (not good to try photographing a white airplane against clouds!).

Well,

As of this morning I have a semi-sheeted wing, and a pair of fuselage sides on the bench.

Twin motors and a blue/blue camouflage scheme......

Should look like this when it's finished. I hope........
